00:00Good day. Welcome to the Gulf News update for Monday, February 6. Here are the top stories
00:06at this hour.
00:07US Vice President Mike Pence has warned Iran not to test the resolve of the Donald Trump
00:12administration. The comments come days after Washington slapped new sanctions on Tehran
00:16following a ballistic missile test launch.
00:19Iran would do well to look at the calendar and realise there's a new president in the
00:22Oval Office. And Iran would do well not to test the resolve of this new president, Pence
00:26told ABC News.
00:28The tough talk came after Trump's Pentagon chief James Mattis declared last week that
00:32Iran was the single biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world.
00:36Meanwhile, Trump's temporary immigration ban faces the first of several crucial legal hurdles
00:41today. The Trump administration has a deadline to justify the executive order temporarily,
00:46barring immigrants from seven mostly Muslim countries and the entry of refugees.
00:51The uncertainty caused by a judge's stay of the ban has opened a window for travellers
00:55from the seven affected countries to enter the United States.
00:58California-based automaker Tesla is expected to launch operations in the UAE soon. The
01:03company sent out an email to Tesla owners inviting them to an event to celebrate Tesla's
01:08official arrival in the UAE. The company, known for its electric cars, also posted on
01:13its website job postings for three positions in Dubai. The event comes just ahead of a
01:17visit by the company's co-founder and chief executive Eon Musk to Dubai.
01:22Lady Gaga dazzled the Super Bowl with a high-tech, tightly choreographed halftime show celebrating
01:27American diversity and unity. Performing at American football's title match, the pop diva
01:33electrified NRG Stadium in Houston with a pulsating medley of her greatest hits. The
01:38singer, clad in a sparkling silver bodysuit and knee-high boots, leapt from the edge of
01:42the retractable roof onto the stage with the help of some sturdy wires.
01:47And finally, the weather today's high across the UAE will be 22 degrees Celsius, dropping
01:51to 15 degrees at night.
