00:00Good day, welcome to the Gulf News update for Thursday, December 22nd.
00:06Here are the top stories at this hour.
00:07Indian expatriates in the UAE have expressed their concerns that they might not be able
00:12to exchange banned Indian currency notes before the December 30th deadline.
00:16Since most such expats will not be able to travel to India before the deadline, it is
00:20surprising that the Indian government has not announced any reprieve for non-residents,
00:24they said.
00:25Almost each of an estimated 2.6 million Indians in the UAE hold a few thousand Indian rupees,
00:30mostly in denominations of 500 and 1,000, that were demonetized on November 8.
00:36German authorities are under fire today after it emerged that the prime suspect in Berlin's
00:40truck attack, a rejected Tunisian asylum seeker, was known as a potentially dangerous militant.
00:46German prosecutors have issued a Europe-wide wanted notice for 24-year-old Anis Amri, offering
00:52a €100,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
00:56They also warned he could be violent and armed.
00:58It's been called the curse of the mummy.
01:00For the briefest of moments on Tuesday, the IMAX YouTube page accidentally hosted an unfinished
01:06trailer of Tom Cruise's new film.
01:08Every aspect was in place, the stunts, the music, the dialogue, except for one thing,
01:12the sound effects had completely disappeared.
01:14And since the trailer for The Mummy is almost all sound effects, it made for a distinctly
01:18disconcerting watch.
01:20And finally, the weather.
01:21Today's high across the UAE will be 25 degrees Celsius, dropping to 17 degrees at night.
01:26That's all for now.
01:27Thanks for watching.
01:28We will be back with the newscast on Sunday, but you can always get the latest news on
