00:00Dubai marked public transport day on Wednesday, celebrating the 12th anniversary of the Roads
00:13and Transport Authority, which has helped transform the city's transport system over
00:17the past decade. With around 550,000 people who commute using the metro as part of their
00:22daily life, it is hard to imagine that the Dubai Metro has been around for just eight
00:27years.
00:57And it's not just the residents who swear by the world's largest driverless rail network.
01:25Tourists and visitors to Dubai also find it the best way to go around.
01:52Operating in a city with a population of around 2.9 million people, and with an additional
01:57million passing through the city daily, Dubai Metro has transported more than a billion
02:01people in eight years.
