00:00Gyrotonic comes from the combination of two Greek words.
00:17Gyro means moving around, around an axis, and tonic refers to the healthy ability of
00:23a muscle to contract and extend to the maximum.
00:29Gyrotonic gives us the joy to explore how far we can go, how best we can be every time.
00:36And by moving the body in a very simple way, it mobilizes your limbs and it stretches your
00:43muscles while you're strengthening at the same time.
00:46We push on one side and then we pull to the other side.
00:50That means that a group of muscles initiate the movement, whereas another group, the exact
00:54opposite group, supports the movement.
00:57When we pull, these two roles are shifted immediately.
01:01So we create a balancing, functional movement.
01:05Whatever I do is always pushing out and away.
01:08Imagine a jellyfish.
01:10It contracts and expands to move around.
01:13This is exactly how we treat the muscles.
01:16We activate everything in a rhythmic way and this is how the whole body is starting to
01:22work as one.
01:23I was a professional dancer, pushing myself to the limit.
01:27Gyrotonic helped me to find my peace while I exercise so that I don't push too hard to
01:35get myself injured due to overwork.
01:38And at the same time, it reconnected me with the fun part of exercising, because exercising
01:44must be also fun, enjoyable, playful.
01:48All the movements are natural movements of the spine and the body.
01:53We have the ability to do flexion, extension, rotation, lateral flexion.
01:59This is what our spine does.
02:01And of course, our shoulders and hips, they can do also three-dimensional circular movements.
02:07So everything we do is based on this.
02:10If everything is normal and functional, it restores whatever restriction we may have.
