South Indian actress Priyamani won a National Award early in her career in 2007 for her searing portrayal of a woman who’s brutally gang-raped in the Tamil blockbuster Paruthiveeran, but that honour and awards glory didn’t insulate her from the highs and lows in her career. 00:00It's great that women are coming out and you know finally they're telling their stories
00:15what happened and I think we need more people like that.
00:20I would just say better late than never because I believe in voicing out your opinion and
00:26I'm very happy that at least the girls today they're not afraid of anything and they're
00:32just like yes this is what has happened to me.
00:36But to talk about the other side also since we just read one side of the story we don't
00:42know both the sides obviously the ones who are accused of it they ask for proof.
00:48My only question is or my only defense to that would be why would girls just come out
00:54just to malign your name or something you know obviously they're telling their story
00:58because something has obviously happened to them which is why they're coming out and they're
01:01saying that look such a thing has happened to me.
01:04They may not have had proof at that point of time but now I can say that they may not
01:10have proof I'm not saying that they do not have they may have but only if something has
01:15happened to them they're coming out and they're saying that look something like this has happened
01:18to me.
01:19I'm really proud of all these girls who are coming out and coming out in the open and
01:24they're not afraid of the consequences per se as opposed to even though it is a male
01:30dominated industry I'm very happy and very proud that girls are finding their foothold
01:36in the industry and you know they're coming out with such a thing and it's great.
01:45The hero Prithviraj, Prithvi gave me a call and he said listen I've seen Parthiviran and
01:50Dara Ra is doing very well and you've done a good job and I want you to talk to a director
01:56I'm doing a film right now and there's a very author backed role that is there for you.
02:03So that's when I got on phone with Ranjit sir and he said listen this is the deal I
02:07want you to do this role and he explained the role to me on the phone.
02:12Immediately my very first question was sir do you think I can do the role because it's
02:17really an author backed role, it's very heavy, do you think I can do it?
02:22So he said that's why I'm calling you I mean I have seen Parthiviran, you've done a good
02:26job and I believe you can carry this role very well.
02:31So that's how I got Thirakkada and it was Ranjit sir who gave me a lift in Malayalam
02:40industry he gave me yes and then once he came up with Pranjyetan, Ranjit sir is one
02:45person I can't say no to because he's given me such wonderful films like Thirakkada and
02:51Pranjyetan obviously so when he came up with Pranjyetan I just couldn't say no to him.
03:00You have to give it back when people actually when they need it.
03:05I tolerate it when they are there up to a limit but once they cross the limit then I
03:10can't take it and especially when it comes to my personal life because Mustafa is not
03:17of I mean obviously he's a Muslim and I married outside my caste and look at the end of the
03:22day if my parents don't have a problem and his parents don't have a problem I don't think
03:26the world should have a problem and even if they do let them keep it to themselves right
03:29let them not bring it to our personal life and interfere in our life because I mean I
03:35have been a victim of a lot of trolls just because I got engaged and I got married to
03:41a guy who is not a Hindu and I initially I felt bad that why are they taking you know
03:48their hatred on to us but now I give it back as good as I get it.
03:57I'm doing a reality show in Malayalam which is for yeah it's for this channel called Zee
04:02Malayalam so it's called Dance Kerala Dance so I'm one of the judges in that then I have
04:09another reality show in Telugu as well which is again a dance show it's called D and they're
04:13on the 11th season it's my second season with them apart from that I have a couple of films
04:19one Kannada film is ready for release I have signed I think probably December Jan maybe
04:27is my guess yeah then I have I've signed on a Kannada film as well which I will be starting
04:35in December I've already started shooting for a Telugu film I've already finished six
04:40days of that I still have about 15 odd more days and then I've just well I'm playing I'm
04:47doing a role in this film called Padinettam Padi is directed by Shankar Ramakrishnan I
04:53can't reveal more on that but I can say that it's Padinettam Padi yes it's got a lot of well
05:00I can say it's it's it's it's a different film I mean I really can't say more I really want to
05:06but yeah I'm working yeah I'm there in it it's but I can say that it's a very prominent role
05:15pretty important in the it's an important role in the film that's basically Shopre is one such
05:30it's a retail therapy as you said where it's a basically a bridge between India and the NRIs
05:39all over and I've had a lot of friends and relatives who you know they do shopping a lot
05:47of shopping online and basically when it comes to the Indian festivals and things like that for
05:52them to get Indian clothes it's where they live basically it's pretty difficult I mean you you may
05:58not get what you want what you desire so when you so Shopre is one such one-stop shop place where
06:07you can it's an it's like they basically they give you a virtual address and so you can buy
06:13all your stuff you can buy it from any of the online stores like your Flipkart and your Amazon
06:20and whatever whatever and then just they these so these guys will give you a locker personal
06:24locker so you can store all your items in this and you get it shipped between five to seven days
