Boeing on Wednesday rolled out an update to its software on the Boeing 737 Max 8 jet, following two crashes only a few months apart. The company says that the update is not an admission of guilt, after two of its jets were involved in fatal accidents, which some have blamed on a sensor incorrectly pushing the 737 Max 8's nose downwards to prevent a stall. Elsewhere, the theme parks operator Dubai Parks has trimmed its losses.

00:00Aircraft manufacturer Boeing has issued changes to the controversial flight system that was
00:07believed to be behind at least one of the two crashes over the past few months of its
00:12Boeing 737 MAX 8 airline.
00:14The systems have been rolled out as of last night.
00:17It's been said previously optional, airlines would have had to pay extra for the system,
00:23which it notifies pilots when sensors provide contradictory readings of the data.
00:29The system to the MCAS was previously believed to have forced the nose down on the Lion Air
00:36jet crash back in October 2018 after trying to prevent the jet from stalling.
00:41However, we don't have any details yet when the Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleet will be allowed
00:47to fly again.
00:48Currently, they are grounded globally at the request of Boeing after many, many airlines
00:54decided to voluntarily ground their fleets for fear of the same accident happening to
01:00them.
01:01So we're waiting to hear from Boeing as to when they will green light the fleet to begin
01:06flying again.
01:07And of course, then individual countries, aviation authorities and airlines will have
01:12to make the decision as to whether they wish to put those jets back in the sky.
01:18But as of now, the system has been rolled out and it's been made available to every
01:23airline flying the 737 variation and not just as an optional feature.
01:28Elsewhere, the operator of Dubai Parks has trimmed losses, albeit marginally, from 1.1
01:35million dirhams to 1 million dirhams.
01:37The operator of the theme park actually saw a steady increase in visitor numbers last
01:42year, growing to 2.7 million visitors up from around 2.2 million visitors in 2017.
01:51Of the 2018 visitors, around 60% came from within the UAE.
01:56So the theme park's operator now says that its focus will be on attracting visitors from
02:00outside or internationally.
02:02The theme park also trimmed losses to its EBITDA, or essentially its profit, by about
02:06half from 400 million dirhams to 200 million dirhams.
02:10And lastly, thousands are stranded across Europe as budget airline Wow Air ceases all
02:15operations and cancels all of its flights.
02:18The Icelandic loss-making airliner has said to be raising equity but has failed to do
02:23so with investors after failing to reach an agreement and therefore has announced today
02:28that it is cancelling all flights across Europe.
02:32That's all for today.
