00:00Tom Holland, who has done something that a lot of celebrities have done, but his is different.
00:07He is in the booze business, sort of. The non-booze business.
00:10The non-booze business.
00:12Because a few years ago, Tom decided that he was going to go sober,
00:16and he has been sober since, I believe, 2022.
00:19I was during the, I thought it was the, well, maybe you're right, it was the 3rd of January
00:23that he did.
00:25And he has remained sober, and he has decided to get into that business.
00:30He has started his own line of non-alcoholic beer.
00:34We got him out yesterday at LAX, and he talked about that decision
00:38and how it continues to impact his life, and we're not talking financially.
00:43I see you came out with a non-alcoholic beer line.
00:47What inspired that?
00:49Well, I got sober, and I was looking for something that would scratch the itch,
00:55and I couldn't quite find what I was looking for, so I thought I'd start my own.
00:59What's your favourite flavour that you got?
01:02I like the IPA for me. The Edge Hill IPA is my favourite.
01:05It doesn't give you the itch to then have a real beer,
01:08or it just completely satisfies that craving?
01:10No, it totally scratches the itch for me, and it helps me feel a part of,
01:15you know, the social environment, the nightlife,
01:17being in a bar and not feeling left out, so it kind of works for me.
01:20That is so interesting.
01:21It's really remarkable. I mean, on the one hand, it's great for him,
01:25and that he's been able to maintain the sobriety.
01:27I also think there is a point of, he needed something, and he's fortunate enough
01:33and successful enough that he decided, you know what, it wasn't out there,
01:36so I'm going to start my own.
01:38And it's good for him.
01:39And what's so interesting about it is that there are so many people now,
01:42so many celebrities who are doing alcoholic beverages,
01:46and when you look at Gen Z, I've read an article about the statistics.
01:52They do not drink the way their elders drank.
01:55Yeah, no, it's much lower.
01:56And so he's tapping into an interesting market.
01:59Yeah, he is. Like you said, Gen Z doesn't drink as much.
02:01He is somebody that's kind of a role model and a peer for them.
02:04And it's interesting, too, I think for people who try to stop drinking
02:07or drink non-alcoholic beer, there's sort of a stigma with it,
02:10with older generations.
02:11Oh, you were an alcoholic.
02:12Tom Holland said, yeah, he had issues with drinking,
02:14like he was doing it too much.
02:15He enjoyed it too much.
02:17But it seems like he made a choice just not to do it for his health.
02:21And there's nothing wrong with that.
02:22So if you want to have an alcohol-free beer,
02:24so you feel like you're still being social and still hanging out,
02:26but not actually drinking, that's cool.
02:28Actually, there's a lot right with it.
02:30I mean, that's awesome.
02:31I mean, I actually really want to, now I want to taste it.
02:34Yeah, I want to taste it, too.
02:35It sounds, I mean, I'm interested in it.
02:37But also, you know, I don't remember hearing
02:40Tom Holland just having a conversation like this.
02:43That was so interesting to me.
02:45Charlie did a really good job.
02:47Yeah, really good job.
02:48You think it was the accent that pulled in, Tom?
02:50It was like, oh.
02:51I was wondering the same thing.
02:52I was wondering.
02:53A fellow royal subject.
02:55I was wondering exactly that.
02:58Big congratulations, Ivor, here from Toronto, Canada.
03:00Big congratulations to Tom Holland.
03:02I think it's fantastic that he's sharing that story
03:04about his sobriety and his journey.
03:07And now has gone forward and made his own beer.
03:09I think it's a really tough thing
03:10when you're battling addiction.
03:12And he said it himself.
03:13You know, he saw there was a need.
03:15It didn't quite scratch the itch.
03:16And he went forward and made something great.
03:18And now he's opened it up for celebrities
03:20who don't want to drink or people
03:22who want to be in those social situations
03:24and be able to actually share in the fun,
03:26to have that now through this beer with Barrow.
03:29Fantastic.
03:29Congratulations.
03:30Absolutely.
03:31More importantly than celebrities,
03:32is open it up to the rest of the world.
03:33And to the world, right.
