00:00Welcome to the next edition of Court and Crime with our crime reporter Ali Alshouk. Thank you very much for joining us and our top stories from Ali this week start with the bounce check and other processes that Dubai police have actually moved online.
00:17Yes, thank you Anouba. Recently Dubai police, they are now offering 15 services only to be online. It's not anymore the person go to police station to get the service. The 15 services, the major one I think it's reporting a bounce check. People now publicly can report a bounce check case online through Dubai police smart application, their website, other smart channels like the smart police station.
00:4415 services like lost and found items, to whom it may concern certificate, paying the traffic fines. So six police station will stop offering this service inside the police station. It will be only online, but for the people who like to go to police station and make their things manually, they can choose from three police station, which is Al-Barsha and Port police station and Al-Ghoseis.
01:08Those three police station will still provide the services to the public manually. They can go to the counters.
01:15So this is, I think it's a great move because it's efficient, it's faster. And also you don't have to look at the hassle of maybe commuting time, waiting, etc.
01:24That's what Dubai police said. Dubai police, they said that with this new step, it's part to reduce the customers, the traffic, the customers on police stations by 80%.
01:36That's a huge number.
01:39The other story we have is a story that did really well on our social channels and digitally was about this stabbing that occurred in Dubai mall.
01:50Yeah, well, the stabbing happened outside Dubai mall. It's an Emirati guy. He was at Dubai mall. He was walking with his friend. So when three guys approached him, they asked him to talk about something.
02:04And they asked him to go outside the mall on the gates. They stopped in a group of six. They were there and they spoke with the guy. Apparently there was a dispute over a girl.
02:13It seems, it seems that the teenagers, yes, yes, they are ages between 17 and 19 years old. So he did argument over a girl.
02:23Things were just like become more offensive between the defendant and the victim. So they raised the knife and they stabbed the Emirati guy. They stabbed him on his waist.
02:35So the Emirati guy, he just like he tried to escape. He went to a nearby hotel, but the defendant was out there too. They chased him on foot. They were involved in a really serious fighting.
02:47But Dubai police, they saw the whole incidents on surveillance cameras and they interfered and they just like they arrested the three men, the Emirati men. One of them actually, he was presented at Dubai court of first incidents, accused of attempt to murder.
03:02The other two, because they are under the age of 18, they were in the juvenile court facing the same charges.
03:08But the other guy is safe, the one who was stabbed?
03:10Yes, I mean, the Dubai police, they, with an ambulance, they transferred the guy to hospital for recovery and he was treated. I mean, he was safe. But the guy is now on trial for attempted murder.
03:25And the third story is also of a case where Dubai police intervened in the nick of time and actually managed to ward off a massive kidnapping attempt.
03:34Yes, what's happened, it's just like a man who was carrying 1.7 million dirhams in a bag. He's working in a company and he's supposed to deliver the money to another place.
03:45So when he stepped out from the building, a group of men, they stopped him and they claim that they are from Dubai police. Two of them, they claim that they are Interpol officers.
03:56They pose as Interpol officers and they ask him to join them in their car. They took him to under construction villa in Abu Dhabi, where they just like terrified him. They stole the money from him.
04:07The good thing, the smart move from the guy, he text his friend, his colleague, he told him that he is with CID. He thought first they are from CID.
04:15So his friend suspected there is something fishy with the whole thing. So he told Dubai police. The guy, while the defenders were taking him back from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, Dubai police, they managed to identify the car.
04:29And they managed to interfere and rescue the guy. He was kidnapped. So they managed to rescue the guy and they recovered the money from the guy.
04:36So it was a really quick action from Dubai police and they just like stopped a robbery. Because those men, they stole 1.7 million dirhams from the guy.
04:46Timely intervention in a massive crime.
04:50Yes, as usual by Dubai police, always.
04:52Yes, one of the safest cities in the world.
04:54So on that note, we end today's edition. We expect and hope that you will join us again next week. Until then, thank you very much for joining.
05:02And as always, you can see all the stories from court and crime filed by Ali on gulfnews.com.
