00:00UN and our partners are appealing for 1.2 billion.
00:05Thank you, President, and thank you, Special Envoy Garrett-Petterson.
00:09Ongoing armed hostilities in northern Syria are also concerning, and the United States
00:14will continue to pursue a ceasefire that will enable our local partners to focus on combating
00:20ISIS and maintain security of detention facilities and displaced person camps.
00:28Since the territorial defeat of ISIS, U.S. assistance has played a vital role in managing
00:33and securing al-Hol and Roj displaced person camps in northeast Syria, and critically,
00:41Syrian Democratic Forces-managed facilities detaining thousands of ISIS fighters.
00:47But this assistance cannot last forever.
00:51The United States has shouldered too much of this burden for too long.
00:55Ultimately, the camps cannot remain a direct U.S. financial responsibility.
01:01We accordingly continue to urge countries to expeditiously repatriate their displaced
01:07and detained nationals who remain in the region.
