Local leaders of Public Housing Projects (PPRs) must serve as the eyes and ears of local authorities to ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of amenities, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Speaking at the PPR Lembah Subang 1 Forum on Thursday (Feb 13), the Prime Minister emphasised the importance of community involvement while announcing a RM1.2mil allocation to repair broken lifts at the Lembah Subang 1 PPR, home to 12,000 residents.
Anwar also said that the PPR communities, which are composed of various races with differing religious beliefs, must be a showcase of unity rather than discord.

00:00PPR Lembas Ubang 1 will be charted again.
00:13It's a good thing that we passed this government.
00:17I want to tell you that there is a difference in this government.
00:21All governments are monitored.
00:24But when it comes to poverty in the city, in the village, in the homes of the people,
00:30we give priority to that.
00:32So I want all of you here to understand this.
00:36Different opinions on different issues can be different.
00:39But this one should not be divided.
00:41If you look at history, since 1995, when we started to build,
00:46this is the first time.
00:49This year alone, for the LEAF, for the new chart, for the improvement of the foundation,
00:55for the basic infrastructure, for PPR alone, the expenditure is Rp 185 million.
01:07Two years ago, it was Rp 50 million, now it's Rp 100 million.
01:11So in these two years, it has been Rp 285 million.
01:16We want to make it happen.
01:19We want to make PPR Lembas Ubang 1 an example for all PPRs in our country.
01:32But we have to keep our promises.
01:35With a clap of hands.
01:37We have to keep our promises.
01:42I talked to the minister and the government.
01:45Okay. What else? How many LEAFs are there?
01:47There are 17 here. 23.
01:50Are they all improved? Are there any that are not yet?
01:53Okay. That's what I want to hear.
01:57So there are some that are not yet improved.
02:00There are some that are a bit hollow. There are more, right?
02:03Okay.
02:04Today, I will approve Rp 1.2 million of improvements.
02:12So I...
02:14I want to say it again.
02:16Because here, it's not just about making it easier.
02:23I want to say that Rp 1.2 million should be improved.
02:28Give me a list of the LEAFs that are damaged.
02:30How many LEAFs are damaged?
02:31Three.
02:33Because the LEAFs...
02:35We have to remember that the LEAFs are the ones that are damaged.
02:37The motorbikes are also damaged.
02:40Am I right?
02:41Don't be like that.
02:47So that's why, when there are CCTVs,
02:50when there are authorities at every level,
02:53please give them advice.
02:55We have to step on it.
02:57We have to press it until it breaks.
03:01Once it breaks, it's useless.
03:03So this responsibility, I will do it.
03:08If it's necessary, I will give it.
03:10If it's not enough for the LEAFs, I can add more.
03:13I can check.
03:14But the monitoring has to be done.
03:18So both.
03:19The authorities, the community, the community forum,
03:23will be able to help if it's monitored properly.
03:28I'm not just saying this.
03:30We work...
03:32Yesterday, the president of Turkey,
03:35Mr. Tayyip Erdogan came.
03:37He's a friend.
03:39Turkey is a developing country.
03:43With various technologies.
03:45But he sees Malaysia as a friendly country.
03:49He feels that Malaysia has a firm position.
03:52Including the oppression in Gaza.
03:55But if we don't regulate our marriage,
03:58if we keep fighting,
04:00fighting,
04:01enemies,
04:02hate each other,
04:03how can we build strength?
04:05Because if people ask,
04:06do we have to work hard?
04:07Yes, we have to work hard.
04:09We have to regulate properly.
04:10Yes.
04:11Stop corruption and misleading.
04:13Don't let the project of 1 million,
04:15100 thousand,
04:16sweep,
04:17rob.
04:18This is what happened before.
04:19We have to stop this.
04:21If we stop this abuse of power,
04:24I believe we can raise the status of Malaysia again.
04:28Malaysia can be great, let them know us.
04:31Malaysia can be a great and developed country.
04:37But our spirit,
04:39cooperation among people is necessary.
04:42Here,
04:43there are Malays, Indians, Chinese.
04:46Sit down.
04:47Understand.
04:48Spirit.
04:49Of course, pray differently.
04:52Belief in religion is different.
04:54But respect for people is necessary.
04:57Don't create violence.
05:00In Islamic history,
05:02people never taught
05:04to be the enemy of other people
05:06or other skin color.
05:07So, that's the principle.
05:09Keep peace.
05:10Respect culture.
05:12Respect differences.
05:14Then, cultivate children's education.
