00:55Starting off with Spain against Poland
00:57Morata broke the deadlock before Lewandowski leveled for Poland and then Spain missed the penalty
01:03And it ended 1-1, but it was another lackluster display from Spain really been disappointed with them
01:08They've got an out beat Slovakia in the last game to progress to the last 16. Can they do it guys? What do you think?

01:25But do you know well, yeah, I mean even a draw against Slovakia might be enough because three points could be enough to go through

01:33They're really just they've been they've been the flop of the tournament for me so far they really just uh lacked
01:40any sort of that tiki-taka flair that got them three major trophies in a row and they just uh

01:49I could list every single player, but they're just um from back to front. They've just been really really poor and
01:56there's nothing memorable about their their games at all other than the fact that they're
02:01they've just been so uh
02:03bland, uh, they're just not really um providing any sparks. I mean even um,
02:08your Hungarians, your Slovakias, Czech Republics, they're all scoring these wonder goals and having these magical moments
02:14Spain it's like
02:16Were they playing? Can't remember. They're just very very very forgettable
02:21Yeah, actually yes, uh, I agree with Matthew on that thing, you know
02:24they are very boring to watch first of all, like we have mentioned that uh, many times, you know, they'll have
02:30any number of position like they had like 77 percentage of position and they created around like
02:36Five shots on target, you know, they were they were playing in front of the Polish defense
02:41Uh, most of the time and when they were struggling to move the ball quickly, they were very labored, you know
02:46They were sluggish and whenever they moved the ball, uh
02:50Quicker and they created a chance. It was falling to Moratas and you know, how he took a good goal yesterday
02:56But you know apart from that he was anonymous and throughout the game, but Moreno had a good game
03:01But he was he was deployed in that David Villa kind of a role which which helped the Spanish team in the attack
03:07it gave it gave them a different dynamics, but
03:10not enough man, because
03:12I think the only way they can score a goal is by uh, you know
03:16Uh
03:17Passing around and so that the Polish defenders will fell asleep so that they can go and score because it was that bad
03:25the kind of position
03:26They're keeping it for no use, you know sideways passing
03:30I I can go on and talk about the Spanish side and it's absolutely lackluster from them
03:35and it's going to be difficult for them to progress from the group itself because if the if Poland wins against Sweden and
03:41if if Spain
03:44Draw against Slovakia, they will finish fourth in the group
03:48It's all to play for in the final game in the in this group. It's going to be fascinating to watch
03:54Yeah, I think if Poland win, uh, then uh
03:58Spain need to beat Slovakia because the draw will see them finish bottom

04:02Yeah, but I have to say like again, like I said yesterday Spain are the most funniest team for me and again
04:08They showed that yesterday after Gerard Moreno hits the post then Alvaro Morata has an open goal
04:16But it's still somewhere else
04:19He loves missing goals
04:22And that was he was so laughing
04:24I just I saw that yesterday and I'm like what?
04:28Come on, Gerard Moreno. At least why didn't this penalty come in the Europa final against Manchester United?
04:33I'm just thinking because I'm a Man United supporter and he does it for Spain and
04:37And he missed it. He missed the tap-in also Gerard Moreno. So I gotta say he didn't play well at all
04:42Yeah, maybe he assisted Morata, but he missed the excellent chance in the first half to make it 2-0
04:48So, you know, it's they have to feel guilty and Spain were rubbish yesterday
04:53I have to say and they don't deserve to win and it's another
04:57You're right. I mean in the last in their first game against Sweden
05:00They set all sorts of records for the most number of passes in the first half
05:04Most number of passes all together in a game most possession, but in the end it counts for nothing in that first game
05:10In fact, they could have lost. Sweden had two of the best chances yesterday again more the same
05:15I think Enrique's got to be a bit more direct now against Hungary. He's going to find it really hard against them
05:21Sorry, not Hungary against Slovakia. Yeah, it's going to be a tough game because now Slovakia know they're going to have to come at them
05:26So they can just sit back soak it all up and probably hit them on the break
05:30So this is a real it's been a disastrous campaign for for Spain up to now. I mean two draws two points
05:36They've still got a real slender chance
05:39But anyway, let's move on to what has been
05:44We have to talk about that Lewandowski goal that was absolutely brilliant, you know, he showed why he's a world-class
05:51He absolutely bullied Laporta in the air
05:55How
06:10If it falls to any other striker, it's not even a chance so
06:14You have to give credit to Robert Lewandowski. He's a world-class striker. He could have won him the game
06:19He could have won the game for them. You know, he missed a very good chance
06:22He was denied brilliantly by the spanish goalkeeper. So
06:25Could have gone to poland's could have gone
06:30The other thing is very quickly that
06:33What might play really into slovakia's hands is they are very similar in style to poland and sweden
06:39So they have watched exactly how they played against spain and doing exactly the same thing
06:43And they'll just soak up and say guys have all the possession you want. We'll just have our two lines of four
06:48And uh, you can just run the course and knowing that knowing that we really want to um,
06:53Slovakia will be happy to give them
06:55We'll take the point
06:58Yeah, we'll see if they can break them down. That'll be very interesting. Obviously if they they lose they're out to draw that could be out
07:04Just a win for spain's going to be needed there. All right, let's move on. Let's move on to what was yesterday
07:09The shock of the tournament so far
07:11Uh, anton griezmann rescued a point for france in the end against hungary
07:15Who had taken the lead and they had they held on would have been a massive result
07:19Fiola took the lead right for hungary right on halftime with a lovely finish
07:25But then before griezmann leveled with I think 25 minutes to go to make it 1-1
07:29France did dominate the game and bape had several chances to score benzema. Mr. Sitta
07:35Uh, that looked a threat but uh
07:37What a story it would have been if hungary could have just held on
07:40And uh and got a win but even a draw even a draw was a shock result, isn't it?
07:45Yeah, it's a great result for hungary. I mean, I think um after the uh, the heartbreak against poland they really deserve to get something and
07:52They could maybe be coming away feeling a bit harder than maybe didn't get three points because they are
07:57More than held their own throughout that game. Yeah, there was some great saves and some great blocks. Um, and then the
08:03other side of the the coin is that they created so many of their own chances, um, uran and um,
08:10Havard looked very weak at the back and they could easily have had more more than more than a one-nil lead. Um,
08:16uh when the france equalized the
08:19The it also shows you I mean there's been criticism of lack of social distance
08:23Distancing in budapest with there being 65 000 people inside that stadium
08:28but it really shows you that that extra man and those passionate fans really can make a difference and
08:33They really have helped hungary raise their game and what is an impossible group
08:37Yeah
08:38Was it was incredible to watch? Uh, you know
08:41Um, we all love this underdog story, right? You know, we all love it and and the kind of
08:49They were all barriers on the pitch, uh yesterday, you know, they were they were fighting for that point
08:53You know, I I was uh worried a bit about them because they could actually run out of gas in the last 20 minutes
09:00But they held on to that which was good
09:02Uh, they held on to that point but uh coming to the to the goal that they scored, you know piola
09:07uh
09:08the goal came from uh cante
09:10Was getting pressed and cante the ball gave, uh, they got the ball from cante and they uh, you know, that that's a that's a rarity
09:28It's not at all a criticism of cante the thing is that uh,
09:32The hungary players the hungary players had a had a flaw in their in them, you know
09:36They they wanted cante to drive towards them so that they could they can nick the ball from cante
09:41They can nick the ball from cante. It's it's the opposite
09:44And they nick the ball from cante and they they counter-attacked through that right-hand side where uh, pavard was absolutely horrible

09:54Pavard was absolutely horrible, you know, and they utilized that
09:57That that that space and fiola with all the composure and he he he finished that it was absolutely brilliant

10:33They they got a draw against the world champions and they should be so proud of themselves
10:37Against all their fans in front of all their fans, you know must be such a great feeling and you know
10:43Chance is everywhere for france, but you got to take them, you know hungary got one good chance
10:47And that was a good finish. That's not an easy finish on laurice's near post
10:50So, you know i've got to get full credit and as shamshir had mentioned like
10:55When angolo conté gets dispossessed look at the counter-attack. There's no one there
10:59Like if angolo conté is not there, it's a huge problem for france
11:03Like like pavard was exposed varane didn't have the best of his games. So
11:08Credit to hungary and well played to them. Really i'm very happy for them. I think we can safely say hungary were hungrier

11:31I think shamshir had to go for a lie down after they're criticizing angolo canton. Um,

11:53Whether they were over odd and being in front of fans for the first time in a long time
11:56They'd be in that sort of a cauldron. They just didn't

12:05Hungry didn't give them a time to settle on one ball. They just chased everything
12:09They really exploited that channel on the left where france were weakest and uh

12:14More than more than earned that point. They're really really really interested for me. So they always do like it when I'm the
12:21The underdogs punch above their weight, you know, give these give these big boys a lesson

12:31Do you think kareem benzema has made a difference? You know, he's played the two games against germany now in hungary
12:36Has he done enough to earn a spot or do you think olivier should come back in the starting 11?

12:42I don't think he has a good question because he was brought into that squad late on
12:46I mean, they brought him back from retirement from the international team of six seven years. I think it was and we all thought
12:53You know, he'll he'll do what he does score lots of goals and be a threat
12:57Uh, but yesterday, I mean when he missed that chance yesterday, I mean, how did you miss from there?
13:02I mean, it's it's an open goal almost and he's played wide
13:05Uh, and I I don't think he has made a difference. I think he's actually blunted their attack a little bit
13:10He just doesn't look it doesn't look like he's that sharp at the moment
13:14So I think uh, well, they've given him the first two games. I think jerome might start in their third game

13:22I think he may he may be more effective coming off, uh off the bench late on in games to try and affect an outcome
13:29but no, I don't think he has had a
13:32An effect on them. What do you think?
13:35I I was just going to say that I think that he definitely earned his place the way that he's um
13:40Led the line for real madrid. Um in the past two years now. He's definitely earned his place in that team
13:46But yeah, it's only been two games
13:48uh, and uh
13:50Similarly gerrude has been doing nothing at club level. So he definitely deserved that start
13:56But we all know how well gerrude plays for france. Um, it's kind of like a hogler situation
14:01He doesn't perform for the club doesn't perform for the club, but he always raises his game for the france team
14:06And so it's a kind of a damned if you do damned if you don't um situation for france
14:10but
14:10Yeah, I really do think that they should go with gerrude for the start as I I couldn't believe myself saying that
14:15um a week ago, but now having seen benjamin's
14:19Inability to really um thrive on that main stage and I think maybe they should give gerrude an opportunity
14:24I think the pressure is getting the better of benjamin. I this is what I think, you know
14:28He's playing after a while, you know, there's some pressure on him huge pressure
14:32Yeah, he doesn't look like he's playing without freedom that he normally does like he's second guessing everything that he does on the ball
14:38So i'm sure he's back

14:44So you guys are talking about uh, olivier gerrude and his presence, right? He could it's my goodness, you know
14:50i've been calling for this, you know, he could be starting ahead of uh,
14:54Benzema for for france because the style suits him more than more than benzema, you know, he can he can hold the ball better
15:00Than benzema benzema is a great striker. He's one of the world-class strikers out there
15:04But you know for this particular team jiru suits better and and the system that the shams deploys
15:11Because he can bring the ball down and pass it towards mbapez and and grief spins and all their attack in the in the world
15:17Cup, we have seen how it came through jiru, you know, he didn't score or assisted but you know
15:22He was instrumental in that world cup win for france
15:25And if he if he comes back comes back to the squad, it's going to do a world of good for for the france court
15:31Yeah, okay both sides, uh play their final games on wednesday hungary are going to play germany and france against portugal
15:40I mean that group is wide open. It's anyone's it's anyone's let's move on though. Let's move on to germany
15:45Who many people wrote off before the tournament had even started because of their aging squad
15:50We know that the ocean blows leaving after the tournament and they've had a pretty toothless attack, but they ripped
15:57Portugal, uh portugal apart yesterday with a with a very impressive attacking display the 1-4-2, but ronaldo put portugal ahead
16:04Uh, but then two home goals turn the match in germany's favor before havertz tapped in the third and gossen's got the fourth
16:11Jota pulled one back for portugal
16:14Uh, but it clearly looked like germany found their rhythm yesterday, didn't it?
16:18Yeah, I think that we all I think all four of us are eating a bit of humble pie because we were all in pretty uh,
16:24Pretty confident that poland portugal might do a job on them. But uh,
16:29Yeah, it was like, uh, they'd had some sort of a time machine and they'd gone back six years
16:33They just decided to go
16:35Yeah, we know how to play again after that lackluster first game against france and
16:40To do it against portugal of all people, you know
16:42You would think maybe if that was if that was hungary or a lesser team you would be going
16:47Yeah, okay, but it's only so and so but would have been portugal and though they're young
16:54young attack minded flair players
16:56And germany being these old huddy duddies, so to speak and stuck in their ways type players. Uh, it was uh,
17:03I mean it was eye-opening and it was very very good to see that they still got it in them. Um,
17:09Uh, was that their final we don't know we'll soon find out in the next match against hungary because
17:14Hungary will be well up for that one as we know because uh, when we'll take them through. Um,
17:20they are going to
17:22you know, but germany just like uh,
17:26It's good. Uh, the one concern I would have is they conceded another two goals
17:30Um, you know, and uh, that's uh, that's a bit of a worry and uh with that creaking defense
17:35Um on another day if you didn't have those two own goals and in their favor
17:40Um, that would have been that that's that result might have been quite quite different again
17:45um, but they definitely bossed it and they definitely turned it on and uh, i'm very happy with that for
17:52You know for for good goals like to say two fortunate ones with their own goals
17:56But um, you know, but the pressure told and they actually definitely earned that victory
18:01Yeah, matthew, but you know, I called for a german win yesterday
18:06Oh, sorry, okay, so I don't need to take a humble fight
18:11And
18:15It was a brilliant performance from the germans, you know, but they're still suspect in defense
18:19But you can't you just ride them off at your own peril, you know
18:23They're absolutely brilliant to watch when they are in full flurry, you know
18:28and uh
18:29the first goal when when uh portugal scored I thought it's going to be the same old story for the germans because
18:35They played so well until that time then they
18:38The portuguese counter-attack at its, you know, that was one of the best counter-attacking goals that I have seen, you know
18:44from the corner ronaldo cleared the ball using his head and then he made like 60 70 yards run and
18:51Bernardo silva picked up yota's run and yota just passed him to ronaldo and finished it and in style
18:56It was brilliant counter-attacking football, but that's what portugal is all about
19:01Counter-attack because they are a pragmatic team, you know, you can see two defensive midfielders sitting in there and they're still they consider like four goals
19:09that was
19:10Incredible to see but that is what portugal is all about
19:13They have all this plethora of attacking talents in their squadron, but they're not using it properly
19:18They're just sitting back absorbing the pressure and then counter-attacking this won't work
19:22It worked for them in the euro 2016
19:24but I don't think it will work in this this euros because the teams are more technical these days and
19:29It's going to be difficult for them to progress into the tournament
19:32They might progress into the round of 16, but it'll be very difficult for them to progress further
19:36because the teams
19:38You know, even in the premier league, you know teams are finding it easy to break down the defense with 10 men
19:4310 men block so
19:45Uh, all the credit should go to the germans. They were passing it on brilliantly
19:50yes, they are still missing a defensive midfielder that first goal wouldn't have been happening if they had a
19:55A defensive midfielder if kimmich was playing in the defensive midfield role that first goal wouldn't have happened
20:01But then you have to talk about a certain kai havertz, man. He was absolutely brilliant. You know, what a generational player he's
20:08He scored in the champions league final, uh, like three weeks ago. He he has got that eye for a pass
20:14He can link up play. Well, he has got the awareness. He has got the instincts in the box
20:19You know, he his first touch is generational. He is a brilliant player, you know and his movement
20:25the movement in the box the first goal that the equalizer, uh,
20:30The german scored it it came with the movement from from kai havertz. He was absolutely great
20:35He was more sharper than ruben diaz
20:37What a sensational player he is and like like what you mentioned billy gilmore for scotland
20:42This guy would be the the one to stay for another decade or so for for the german squad
20:47Sahil we finally saw the germans, huh? It was good
20:50Yeah, I mean
20:52full again full credit to them
20:54I had predicted yesterday a 2-2 draw if those two own goals didn't come it would have been 2-2. So
20:59So I was almost there
21:01But I got one goal sahil on goals. They they can't do anything. I can't blame the defenders for their own goals
21:07It was if that was not an own goal
21:09Somebody would have put it else would have put it in the back of the net, right?

21:37And you know, I have to give credit to kai havertz. He was literally just his passes his touches were just smooth and
21:43Robin gosen's got the man of the match, you know deservedly he scored scored the fourth goal. He was running around
21:50And portugal just lacking flair the poor goals conceded, you know, they've got a world-class defense
21:56I thought pepe ruben diaz who had an outstanding season
22:00And still four goals at the back, which is a bit shocking for me
22:03So often they are always uh, sahil ruben diaz always struggled when he plays against a chelsea player
22:10I have to agree on that. Sure. You're right. Absolutely
22:13But still it's just I mean portugal are the favorites for me like I mentioned
22:18So I mean full but the the germans you all say the germans find their way, you know
22:21They found out they find somehow find their way to score goals and they just thrashed portugal
22:26It was not a one-sided. It was a one-sided game. And yeah, that's all what just portugal were poor yesterday. That's all
22:32They were very poor. They were poor but ronaldo. I think
22:36I don't think he cares. He got his 107th goal yesterday. He's just too shy now rally days or an all-time international record
22:43I think he may need more games to break that record and I don't think it's going to happen in this tournament
22:49I think portugal could be eliminated because uh, because now we just can't write hungary off. We've seen a good day out

22:59We said it was going to be a group of death, but we didn't think that there was going to be four teams
23:04really going to be um
23:05Fighting for possibly top spot. Hungary can still top that group. Uh, which is a bit insane the um
23:12The the big thing that's uh
23:15For me is we talked about three teams in this group that could be potential champions. Um, but
23:21Now there's only three teams in the entire tournament that have got maximum points after two games and it's none of those guys
23:28Um, it's uh, we all talked about they could take points off each other
23:31But we weren't really factoring in the fact that hungary would be taking points off as well. Um, the uh,
23:37The you know, like italy belgium and netherlands are only teams with maximum points. Um, and uh,
23:44I think I think one of the one of the big boys are going to go out in hungary
23:48They're going to squeeze at the third spot in that group
23:52With that draw against france, you know that the whole dynamics of the group has changed
23:57The france versus portugal game is has become a very important game now like
24:02Portugal can't afford to even draw that game, you know
24:05so
24:07I don't know. I i'm not the one for predicting anything from this group. I don't want to do anything
24:18Scary group
24:19That's all right. Let's move on to today's games and look italy's playing against wales. We've mentioned earlier. I've won their first two games
24:26They they look really good. They're the only team that really excites me
24:29Uh, they've won the first two games three nil
24:33And I think they're going to repeat that score. I think they'll be too good for wales
24:35I'm going three nil italy
24:40Yeah, I would be i'd be fairly confident one thing i'll probably see is they might rest a few guys knowing that they've got that
24:45spot in the next in the last 16, um, obviously
24:49we need to try and factor in if
24:51If top spot is actually favorable because a lot of these other groups are going to go either way
24:56Uh, and you might actually get a easier team by finishing second, you know
25:01So, uh, I think they might give a couple of their key players a rest just to maybe try and avoid injuries
25:06Uh, because you know that wales will put in some meaty challenges. Um, and uh,
25:11yeah, I think that wales did well in the last game, but uh,
25:15yeah, I think that italy are just the team of the tournament so far and they'll just uh,
25:21They'll do their cohesive thing and just play them off the puck
25:25But this is uh, this is this is a chance for the world to see the the bench strength of the italians, you know
25:31I think they will rest some of the players some of the top players they'll rest
25:34But then the guys that were going to come in i'm going to show the world that they are equally good enough
25:39I think it's going to be another another good performance from the italian side because they're in rhythm
25:43You know, you can change the personnels, but the rhythm is there they're playing as a team
25:48So the cohesion is there so you can you can bring in uh, chiesa for veradi
25:53He'll he'll still do the same thing. You can bring belotti instead of immobile. He'll do the same thing
25:58You can bring a variety instead of lucatelli. He'll do the same thing
26:01So it's it's that kind of a performance from the they're a they're a team to watch in the tournament
26:06That's I think uh, I think it's going to be easy for them. I think they'll they'll win by like two or three goals
26:13I gotta go. Come on wales. They gotta win two one

26:27Today so the other one switzerland against turkey. I've been really disappointed with turkey. I expected a lot more from them
26:33I thought yilmaz coming off of the season. He had uh with leo. I thought they'd uh,
26:38I thought they were good enough to beat wales. They should have done. I thought they should have got well
26:43They've lost their two games and I think they're headed for another defeat. They're going to finish bottom of this group

27:18You know italy put six past wales as a material because wales have already got four points
27:23So that goal difference doesn't even become a factor. All they can do is try and put two or three past switzerland

27:31I think we all know that's not going to happen. So I think that they're effectively out already and switzerland
27:36will
27:37Will know that and then they'll end up coming away with a 1-0 win
27:42Yeah, for for me, I think that that turkish win today
