This woman found 4 hermit crabs in a box on the road — so she took them home and let them pick out new shells ❤️ We talked to Ariel, who told us that painted shells are actually toxic, and how they each have distinct personalities!

00:00Ugh, just on the side of the road.
00:03They were left overnight, so their little enclosure was flooded and wet.
00:08As the universe would have it, I actually had been preparing to adopt crabs from a rescue,
00:16and within a couple hours, I had them set up in their temporary new enclosure.
00:21And they're doing so well so far.
00:24They were in the painted shells, which are toxic to them.
00:27Their legs were hanging out of their shells.
00:29They couldn't fully retract inside.
00:32They needed to switch out of those shells like yesterday.
00:35I created a shell shop.
00:37That's important for them to have shells available at all times.
00:40They started shell shopping immediately, and then I chose their name based off of their
00:46shell vibe.
00:47Peach, Pierre, Juniper, and Krebs.
00:51The supplies that I needed for the Cravitat were a lot of climbing and enrichment items.
00:58I know their health is improving because they all just have really different interests
01:02and personalities, and I'm glad that they're feeling comfortable to come out and interact
01:07with the different enrichment items.
01:11I have been inspired by these little guys to advocate for them and continue to educate
01:18about how they should be taken care of and how they should be kept.
01:22Before getting a pet of any type, it's super important to do that research ahead of time
01:27so you can be successful and so they can live a good life.
