00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays.
00:09Today, we're going to be delving into the largest questions we have about the Witcher
00:14series.
00:15Keep in mind, we're sticking to the games and books here, since the TV show exists in
00:19a separate canon.
00:22Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring
00:38the bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:58If a Witcher fan decides to romance Triss, that's a clear sign they haven't read the
01:03books or played the first two games.
01:06In the books, Triss is pretty damn irritating.
01:09Sure, Yennefer can be sassy, but Triss is straight up abusive, and does heinous things
01:16to steal Geralt from Yen.
01:18After losing his memory, Triss takes full advantage, romancing him and withholding
01:23Yennefer's existence from him.
01:25So here's the mystery.
01:27Why is she still romanceable in 3, and why aren't Geralt and Yennefer outraged at her?
01:33It's clear she's completely fixated on Geralt, and is willing to do awful things to woo him.
01:389.
01:49Conjunction of the Spheres
02:01The continent's defining event was the Conjunction of the Spheres, a cataclysmic event that happened
02:071500 years ago.
02:09Portals across the entire multiverse suddenly opened up, and the world previously belonging
02:14to gnomes and dwarves were swamped with humans and monsters.
02:19Interestingly, these humans canonically came from our own Earth.
02:23It's a fascinating setup, and traveling the multiverse is an exciting part of The Witcher
02:283.
02:29Its cause has never been explained, however, yet many theories that aim to.
02:34The Netflix series Blood Origin ends with this event, but this series is widely reviled,
02:40so we can't count that.
02:458.
02:54The Ghost of Fyke Isle
03:02Way back when The Witcher 3 had just been released, some players found a seriously spooky
03:07wooden ghost on Fyke Isle.
03:10During the quest, A Tower of Mice, the shadow of a mysterious lady appears on Geralt's boat.
03:16Later on, a wooden ghost figure can be found inside the abandoned tower.
03:21It doesn't interact with Geralt at all, it just sits there, looking creepy.
03:25For years, fans struggled to discover why she was there.
03:29Eventually, in 2023, it was finally solved, and the answer wasn't as interesting as many
03:36hoped.
03:37Turns out, the developers placed an invisible NPC so Geralt can talk to Keira Metz without
03:43seeing her.
03:44Similar things are found in Cyberpunk 2077, strengthening this solution.
03:527.
03:58Iorveth
04:11This elven rebel and commander of the Skaw Tile was a compelling character in The Witcher
04:162.
04:17Unfortunately, he never returned in the sequel, despite major characters like Roche and Letho
04:23reappearing.
04:24Turns out, he was supposed to be there, but the developers had to cut him.
04:29According to CDPR's Philip Weber, he was meant to be a big part of the game.
04:34Instead of rushing a smaller appearance to compensate, they cut him entirely.
04:39He was meant to appear in Velen, where he was looking for a plague cure.
04:43Iorveth would join forces with Geralt, Roche, Vess, and Thaler to find a cure.
04:49It's a shame Iorveth's story may never be resolved, as he was a highlight of The Witcher
04:542.
04:576.
05:03Avalok
05:15Also briefly known as the ugliest man alive, Avalok was Ciri's traveling companion between
05:20the books and games.
05:22Once upon a time, he was buddies with Aroden, leader of the Wild Hunt.
05:27He did some pretty shady things to Ciri, telling her she must produce an heir for their king
05:32to leave Ternalia.
05:34This is barely mentioned in the games, making us wonder, what does he do to convince Ciri
05:39to join him?
05:40Avalok wanted to preserve Ciri's lineage, while Aroden wanted Ciri to help them invade
05:46another world.
05:47His drastic change between the books and the games is a mystery, and makes us wonder if
05:52he was meant to betray Ciri, but it was cut.
05:595.
06:03The Wild Hunt's Identity
06:04Specifically, Aroden, leader of the Wild Hunt, is a severely underdeveloped character,
06:22especially compared to the phenomenal villains of the DLCs.
06:26You may have read the books after playing the games, hoping to learn more about the
06:30Wild Hunt.
06:31Then you likely realize the books also depict him as a flat antagonist, and the games don't
06:37change this.
06:38He wants the A&L to escape their dying world, using Ciri's Elder Blood.
06:43He is a seriously lackluster character, whose personality is largely a mystery, unless you
06:50take him at face value and assume he really is that boring.
07:034.
07:04Pontar Valley
07:13The Pontar Valley was a central location in The Witcher 2.
07:17Geralt spent a chapter at Vergen, a dwarven town in the valley.
07:22It's ruled by Saskia, a dragon disguised as a human.
07:26Your actions can drastically affect its fate, with Iorveth's path leading to a free Vergen,
07:32and Rosh's path causing it to fall.
07:35It represents the ongoing struggle between humans and the old races.
07:39In the sequel, we find out it felt a Nilfgaard between games.
07:44This is all we learn.
07:45The fate of Saskia and Vergen is a complete mystery.
07:50Maybe it's to avoid picking a canon timeline for two.
07:53On the other hand, decisions like Letho's fate can be imported into three, so maybe
07:59it was just too much work.
08:063.
08:10The Elder Blood's Origins
08:19Blood Origin does shed some light on The Elder Blood's Origins, but it's not considered
08:24canon so we're ignoring it here.
08:27It's a powerful gene that grants the owner immense magical potential and explains serious
08:32powers of time and space manipulation.
08:36It was originally possessed by Lora Doran, an elven sorceress from the past and love
08:41interest for Avalok.
08:43The specifics of how she came to possess the Elder Blood have never been explained.
08:48It could be tied to the conjunction, or it may be purely magical.
08:53This will forever be a mystery, as Sapkowski intended.
09:022.
09:06Geralt's Wild Hunt Ride
09:17Geralt once exchanged his life for Yennefer's, becoming a member of the Wild Hunt for a brief
09:22time.
09:23This was revealed in The Witcher 2 and expanded upon slightly in 3.
09:28managed to save him, leaving him by Ciara Morgan, with an unfortunate case of amnesia.
09:34This is where the first game begins, and that's about all we know of Geralt's time with the
09:39A&L.
09:40Did he spend this time as a prisoner, or did he join them on raids wrecking havoc on innocents?
09:47Given the series' shift in focus to Ciri, we'll probably never know.
09:541.
10:00Ciri Destroying the White Frost
10:13The White Frost caused a central conflict in The Witcher 3.
10:17Only Ciri and her Elder Blood can stop it.
10:20It causes a steady but constant snowfall, until eventually food and resources deplete,
10:26and all life perishes.
10:29After achieving victory over the Wild Hunt, Avalok and Ciri stop the White Frost.
10:34Depending on your choices, she'll either survive or die, but with The Witcher 4's
10:39announcement, her survival is now canon, and she becomes a witcher, something heavily foreshadowed
10:45in both the books and games.
10:47However, we have no idea what she did to stop it.
10:51It's left open-ended.
10:53Maybe in 4 it'll be explained, but it makes sense if they wanted it to be open-ended.
11:08What's the biggest question you've got about the Witcher franchise?
