00:00Morning, Ryan. Good to see you, mate.
00:02How was Tuesday night?
00:03It looked like a brilliant debut, really.
00:05Are you happy with how it went?
00:07Yeah, it was really good.
00:08I enjoyed it.
00:10Obviously, it was a pretty...
00:13It felt like a long week building into it
00:16because, obviously, I was cup tied for the weekend.
00:17So, you know, I had a lot of time to think about it,
00:20a lot of time to get myself ready.
00:22And no, I think it went well.
00:24Were there any nerves?
00:25The manager said afterwards,
00:27you know, whenever you play a first game for a new team,
00:29there is, but you looked really kind of assured and composed.
00:33Yeah, I think there's always nerves.
00:34I think that fire in the belly,
00:37you know, you should have a majority of games anyway.
00:41But no, the lads have helped me settle in really well.
00:43And obviously, there was a little bit of nerves,
00:46but, you know, they helped me through.
00:48Yeah, I think the club put a video of training out
00:50the day before or something.
00:52It just looks a really good atmosphere of you
00:54kind of being really enjoying your time here so far,
00:57that side of it.
00:58Yeah, it's been really, you know, refreshing for me.
01:01Coming in to this changing room and in this environment,
01:04it's, you know, I think it's perfect for me,
01:07especially for the next three months.
01:09And I think I've always said that, you know, international,
01:13my national team is my priority.
01:15And I think this will be a good three months
01:17to help me build, you know,
01:19and to try to get back into the starting lineup for Scotland.
01:22Yeah, you mentioned the environment there.
01:24I think you mentioned it in your first interview as well.
01:26Has that been a challenge this season
01:28or is it more that you're really excited
01:30by the Preston environment, that sort of side of it?
01:33No, listen, I think, you know,
01:34there's a lot that goes on in football,
01:36you know, behind the scenes.
01:39Sometimes it can affect, you know,
01:42what happens on the pitch, et cetera.
01:43But, you know, I just felt like it was time for,
01:49you know, in the moment to get the best out of me
01:53would be to go on loan.
01:54And because I knew the manager
01:57and some of the players here,
01:58I knew it would be a good fit
01:59and, you know, hopefully it will be going forward.
02:03Was it a surprise to be going out on loan?
02:05Did it catch you off guard?
02:06It happened really quickly, didn't it?
02:09Yeah, listen, you know,
02:12players come and go at Watford quite a lot
02:14and, you know, you kind of sign up for.
02:16So it was also initially a surprise,
02:19but at the same time, it is what it is.
02:23And, you know, my full focus now
02:25is on Preston and trying to finish
02:28as high as possible with them.
02:30Yeah, have you found the Championship,
02:32the last, this third season in it,
02:34have you found it pretty steady?
02:36Yeah, listen, it was obviously a big,
02:38it took a big toll on my body when I first moved down
02:41with the Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday kind of games.
02:43And yeah, but you kind of,
02:48your body develops and getting used to that.
02:50And it's, you know, it's a lot better
02:53because you're constantly playing games
02:54and this is probably one of the best leagues in the world
02:57for the amount of games you play
02:58and, you know, the kind of competitiveness of it.
03:03Did you know any of the lads coming in?
03:04Lindsay, you know?
03:05Yeah, Lindsay, Ali, a couple of the lads.
03:08And, you know, I phoned Big Linz before, you know, I joined
03:12and he sold the club, you know, really well to men.
03:15And he, yeah, he said that he thinks it would be a good move
03:20for a few months and then try to get, you know,
03:24back to that really good level that I want to be at.
03:28And you've worked with the manager before, Bree,
03:30I know you didn't play under him too much,
03:31but was that kind of exciting to reunite
03:33and have a proper go at it for these last three months?
03:36Yeah, when the manager, you know, texted me,
03:39you know, I felt like it was going to be a really good option
03:42because, you know, sometimes if you go into a football club
03:44and you don't know the manager or the players,
03:46you know, it can maybe take, you know,
03:48a lot of time to get used to it and to fit in.
03:51But, you know, I feel like I can slip in here,
03:55you know, pretty well because of the relationship
03:58that I've got with the manager
03:59and some of the players already.
04:01Looking forward to Saturday?
04:03Yeah, I can't wait.
04:03Can't wait.
04:04You know, I played Burnley just before Christmas
04:07and, you know, it was a tough game.
04:11Good side, well-organised, great defensive record,
04:14but, you know, these records are there to be broken.
04:17And, you know, I think we have the quality
04:20in the forward areas to do that.
04:24Yeah, you'll strike me as someone who relishes a derby, really.
04:27Deepdale should be pretty full.
04:28Just got to embrace it, really.
04:31Yeah, listen, we know it'll be a tough game,
04:32but, you know, the fans, you know,
04:36if they come in, their numbers will make a good atmosphere
04:40and make it difficult for Burnley to play.
04:43Yeah, you mentioned the forward players.
04:44Has the quality kind of impressed you a bit, Preston?
04:47They're sort of in that 15th position,
04:49but, I mean, not a million miles away, really,
04:51if you could get on a run of winning games.
04:53Yeah, listen, I was impressed at the two games
04:55that they played against Watford this season.
04:59Obviously, I watched them from the bench,
05:01but I was really impressed with everything,
05:05with the willingness to run, you know, all over the park,
05:09put your body on the line in front of everything
05:11and get forward, score goals.
05:14And, you know, this kind of epitomises the whole,
05:17like, a championship team.
05:19You know, this is what it should be.
05:20This is what wins you games,
05:21and hopefully we can continue that.
05:24Yeah, I mean, the manager bangs on a lot
05:26about that sort of stuff, mentality.
05:28You could sort of share all of those views.
05:30You can't be your ideal boss, really, in that regard.
05:33Yeah, listen, it's, you know, all coaches are different.
05:37All coaches will, the best coaches will change,
05:41you know, what they do based on the players they have.
05:44And, yeah, I think the manager's done that really well.
05:47Do you have any thoughts beyond the summer, mate?
05:49The manager said you've not really discussed it at all.
05:51Is it just 15 games, play as well as you can,
05:54and then whatever happens, happens?
05:56Yeah, that's the plan.
05:57As I said, my, you know, short-term goals are Scotland.
06:02And if I can play here really well,
06:04finish as high as possible, then, you know,
06:06my goal is to get back in that Scotland team.
