00:00The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, or TESDA,
00:04has developed new curriculum to train technicians who can repair electric vehicles.
00:10Karen Bernadas of Philippine Information Agency, BICOL, tells us more.
00:17As more Filipinos shift to electric vehicles, the government agency responsible for technical
00:22education has developed a training curriculum for technicians who can service these vehicles.
00:28This year, Region 5 identified electronic vehicles as one of the emerging skills
00:34within the region. Specifically, this is from the province of Camarinesur,
00:39which has already purchased a lot of electronic vehicles, and the demand is high,
00:45and the demand is increasing based on the identified count of our industry partners
00:52during the industry consultation that we conducted last year. So with this,
00:58we identified that there is a high need or high demand for the repair of our electronic vehicles.
01:04Navarra emphasized that skills in the repair and maintenance of EVs are among the top competencies
01:10that TESDA plans to promote. The authority has identified over 100 EV technicians and users
01:17to undergo these trainings after completing the competency standards
01:21and submitting the Memorandum of Agreement among car dealers in the region.
01:26We are encouraging our different car dealers to collaborate with TESDA
01:34so that we can fulfill our needs when it comes to the latest trend of technology,
01:39that they have, that for now, there is no training.
01:43The trainees who will be upskilled to repair and maintain electronic-controlled vehicles
01:48will also receive allowance and sustainable employment through TESDA Complementary
01:53Livelihood Services Program. Karen Bernadez from PIA Bicol Region, reporting for Balitang Pambansa.
