Taking public transport in Dubai has now become more convenient as around 1,500 e-scooters, regarded as a first- and last-mile solution, have been recently introduced at five busy districts across the city.

00:00In various cities across the world, e-scooters are being used as a first and last mile solution.
00:18So we are here at the metro station where people can use one of these scooters instead
00:24of walking, they can take one of these and then they can go home easier and faster.
00:30So today the RTA has launched the trial period of e-scooters in various areas including here
00:37in Al Riga, also at Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, at Dubai Internet City, Jumaila Lake Towers
00:44and at 2nd December Street.
00:46So there are five companies that have partnered with RTA with regards to the use of e-scooters.
00:53This one is owned by Arnab.
00:55So how do we use this scooter?
00:58First, everything is listed here.
01:04First we scan the QR code, open the app and then download it.
01:13You can download it on iPhone and also on Google Store.
01:25Because this is just an introduction phase, as you can see, you can get two free rides
01:32and it will cost you 3 dirhams to unlock.
01:35This is an e-scooter and then the per minute ride is 60 fils.
01:41I've just downloaded the app, I'm going to open it.
01:45Again as I said, there are five companies which have partnered with RTA for the launch
01:52of e-scooters.
01:53Arnab is just one of them.
01:56Now I'm going to sign up for the app, I'll put my email.
02:07After putting all my bank details and then don't forget that there is a promo code, I'm
02:13going to sign up now.
02:24We're now done with the registration part and we're going to scan the QR code to use
02:29this e-scooter.
02:30Okay done, so it says here the battery life of this scooter is 88%, the number is 851
02:47and all I have to do to use this scooter is to press rent.
02:51Here's a warning, this e-scooter is geofence, meaning you cannot take this out outside of
02:58the designated area.
02:59So we're here in Alriga, I cannot use this bike and take it to, let's say, Naif, simply
03:08this will stop.
03:11If I cross beyond the Alriga area, the e-scooter will just turn off.
03:17Read all the instructions for safety and health considerations.
03:22Wear your face mask, and this little thing here is not just a small pouch because inside
03:30it are disposable hand gloves.
03:39Slide to open, did you hear that sound?
03:48That means we're ready to go.
03:50It's as easy as 1, 2, 3 and now we're off to go.

04:12I took Arnab, it was faster, you know, I came here faster and I reached the metro on time,

04:33It did not take long, and it is 2-3 rides when you take it, and it's very simple, it's
04:40very easy, very smooth ride, you know, I loved it, I really loved it.
