00:00Whether you're looking to go on vacation or thinking about a staycation right
00:04here in the UAE, knowing the public holidays of 2021 will help you with your
00:10planning. Kick off this list with New Year's Day. The first holiday of the year
00:15falls on the first day of the year, which is January 1st. Sadly, this day is a
00:21Friday, so unless you generally work on Fridays, there will be no special holiday
00:26for New Year's Day. But hey, at least you get to enjoy the start of the year with
00:30a relaxing weekend. Next up, we've got Eid al-Fitr. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of
00:36Ramadan and is a three-day celebration. A leading UAE astronomer predicted that
00:42the first day of Eid al-Fitr could fall on May 13th, 2021, which is a Thursday. If
00:47this holds true, this could mean a three-day weekend for UAE residents. The
00:53next public holiday will be during the summertime, and that is Arafat Day and
00:58Eid al-Adha. Arafat Day could likely fall on July 19th, 2021, while Eid al-Adha
01:04will fall on the 20th. These dates are obviously subject to
01:09moonsighting, but if the predictions hold true, UAE residents are in for a really
01:14long holiday to mark Arafat Day and Eid al-Adha. Next up, we've got the Hijri
01:20New Year, which is the Islamic New Year, and it's tentatively expected to fall on
01:25August 10th in 2021, which is a Tuesday. This could mean a nice midweek holiday
01:31for residents if confirmed. And the last holiday of 2021 will be Commemoration
01:38Day and National Day. Residents can expect a couple of days off in
01:42observation of Commemoration Day and the celebration of the 50th UAE National Day
01:48in 2021. The holiday will take place from December 1st until the 3rd, which
01:53would give residents two days off in addition to the weekend. This would mean
01:57a nice four-day weekend, long enough for a short staycation or a trip abroad. And
02:03that's it for holidays of 2021. See you in 2022!
