00:19So who would have thought that Filipinos would win in a winter sport like curling?
00:25That's why some Filipinos were super proud and surprised when the Philippine Men's Curling Team reached the 9 Asian Games.
00:33Very good because it's a big challenge for Filipinos, especially in the Winter Olympics or Winter Games.
00:41Because we don't have bad weather.
00:46So it's a very big challenge, so congratulations.
00:49Very proud because Filipinos showed that they are good in different sports.
00:58Especially in a sport that we are not used to because we have not experienced such an environment.
01:06I was amazed because there is no snow in the Philippines.
01:10Curling is considered the oldest team sport in the world.
01:14It started in the 16th century.
01:16Curling became popular in the 18th century and was often played in Scotland.
01:21In 1924, curling became an Olympic sport and became part of the Olympic Winter Games.
01:28In the Philippines, natural sports was introduced in 2000.
01:33The Philippine Curling Association was established in 2006 to expand the knowledge of Filipinos in natural winter sports.
01:42Curling has now become a tool for the Philippines to get their first gold medal in the Asian Winter Games.
01:50A country has proven that the climate is only warm and cold that they can compete with other powerhouse teams such as China and South Korea.
02:01So the question is, what's next for the Philippine Curling scene?
02:07The awareness about curling is increasing.
02:10We will be organizing a learn to curl camp for Filipinos who are based in the Philippines and in Asia.
02:16Curling Pilipinas will fund the ice time, will fund the coaches and the translators.
