00:00Let's talk World Series here, and Joe, if I gave you a chance to tell me who's favorite to win the
00:05World Series, who would you say it's going to be? Gee whiz, is it the Dodgers? Yeah, it's the
00:12Dodgers at plus 250, but we're going to throw the chalk out as they do in horse racing. We're going
00:16to try to find some numbers here. Yankees are here, Braves are here, Phillies are here. I like
00:21them. The Mets, the Orioles are here. You think the Orioles took a step back? I think they have
00:25everything and more. Let's talk about the 2025 World Series odds. Well, here's the thing. You've
00:33heard me on this show time and time again, fade the Yankees, right? And that's been right. I faded
00:37the Dodgers a couple years ago, right? And it was correct. Last year, it was wrong. And what scares
00:43me the most about the Dodgers this year is the bullpen and what they've done to not only bring
00:48back guys in the bullpen, but bring in more bullpen help. So if the Dodgers get out of the
00:56National League, I don't think there's an American League team that can hang with them. I just don't.
00:59Sorry, Yankees. I just don't think you can hang with the Dodgers. I don't think the Red Sox can.
01:04I certainly don't think the Orioles can. So for me, it's looking for NL teams with value that
01:10can beat the Dodgers on the way there in a five-game series, right? Anything can happen
01:14in a five-game series or a seven-game series. You know, sometimes guys get ice cold. Some guys,
01:18you know, get hot. You know, the Mets pushed the Dodgers further than the Yankees did.
01:22And I think the Phillies would have pushed the Dodgers further than the Yankees would too. I'll
01:25be honest with you. So I think the best wagers are coming from within the National League on this.
01:31So on the American League side, you know, the Orioles and the Yankees are the tops in this
01:36favorite grouping. And I'm going to stay away from them. I'm a little worried about still the
01:40health of Garrett Cole over a whole season and Max Freed. If those guys stay healthy, then yeah,
01:44the Yankees are certainly a team that's going to be at the top of the American League.
01:49The Braves are really intriguing to me at plus 900, because
01:54if they can get Spencer Strider back healthy at some point, you look at that rotation, Strider,
02:00Sale, Schwellenbach, who was terrific last year. You have Reinaldo Lopez coming off a career season
02:07too. Can he repeat it? We'll see. But that's a rotation that you feel good about in a playoff
02:12scenario, right? A dominant Chris Sale, a dominant Spencer Strider, if he's right. Okay. So don't rush
02:16him, hang close, pick up the wild card, just get in the dance. But when you get Acuna back, let's
02:22not forget about how good this lineup is. They went out and they got Jerickson Profar, right?
02:25So he's going to towards the top of this order. You got Riley, hopefully coming back healthy
02:29to have a bounce back season. You still have Olsen. You're getting Ozuna. And of course,
02:33you're adding Ronald Acuna to Ozzie Albies. It's a really good lineup, a really good rotation and
02:39a bullpen that's pretty sound. They're the team that you have to watch for. If the Mets pick up
02:44a big time starting pitcher in addition to what they have, I would be very much in on the Mets
02:49too. But I think right now the Braves and Phillies at plus 900 plus 1100, those are the teams that
02:55are structured, I think the best to beat the Dodgers. So look for the teams within the
03:00National League, not for a team to beat the Dodgers in the World Series, because I just don't
03:03think those American League teams stack up. Matt, what do you think?
03:07Yep, I think you're a thousand percent right in the teams that you've outlined. Look, after Acuna
03:11went down, everything kind of just fell off for the Braves and then a few more key injuries. And
03:16they were just like, all right, let's back it up and worry about next season. But here they come
03:18back again. I think they're the juggernaut when healthy and they have to be. Phillies are important.
03:22You ask a great questions, who can upend the Dodgers on their way? So you ask yourself,
03:27do the Cubs have it? Can they do it? Do the Padres have it? Can they do it? And these are
03:31questions you answer for yourself as a wager. But on the American League side of things, I think it's
03:35a team like Cleveland, a team that has that good six inning, seven inning baseball, that star and
03:41that just good baseball acumen. And I really am not counting out the Orioles for a reason that you
03:46were highlighting is their bullpen. I made the joke in hour one that they have pretty much every
03:51guy that all of us have streamed for saves over the last three years. They have Kittredge, Dominguez,
03:56Soto, Batista coming back. So I think you want to find that American League representation is a
04:01good baseball team. But Joe's right. It's going to have to be someone to upend the Dodgers on the way
04:06in, Joe. Yeah. And in terms of long shots, I mean, I don't love any of them. If they can get some
04:14offense, maybe the Mariners are plus 2600 because that is a rotation nobody wants to face in the
04:19short series. Absolutely not. So can they get that offense together? Can they hit enough?
04:24That's the big question there. Maybe even the Red Sox, too. I still wonder about Garrett
04:28Crochet when you start to cross that threshold of innings, what it looks like in August and
04:32September or, dare I say, October for them. The Rangers, if they stay healthy, there's a little
04:37bit of love there. But again, you got to put a lot of the eggs in that to ground basket. So
04:41I think it's a top heavy situation in Major League Baseball, which is unfortunate. We like more
04:45parity. I wouldn't sleep on the Cubs either, but it feels like the favorites, the favorites for a reason.
