00:00The Philippine Olympic Committee has a call for the victory of our men's curling team for the gold medal in the Asian Winter Games.

00:10Hopefully, there will be support to have a training facility here for the winter sport.

00:18The history of the Philippine Men's Curling Team was made when they won the first ever Winter Games medal of the Philippines in the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China.

00:32The whole country was surprised when the proud fans and officials from the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee met.

00:42They couldn't believe their success, especially from the number 51 in the world rankings, the Philippines now holds the gold medal.

01:12It's amazing. Again, we won the game after the last stone.

01:17Curling, which is also called chess on ice, is not yet that popular in the Philippines.

01:22It is a combination of physical skills and strategy, where the goal of the opposing team is to move the stones to the target.

01:29There is no curling facility here in the Philippines, so they are still training in Switzerland.

01:34That's why they called for a curling facility here.

01:38We request expenses. This is a huge expense. This is not a joke.

01:42We really need that financial support to sustain even the developmental stage.

01:51We hope that they would learn to love floor curling and hopefully that would be the jump off point for these floor curlers to become actual ice curlers in the future.

02:02The POC is now issuing a courtesy call for the Philippine Curling Federation in Malacanang.

02:05Curling athletes will return to training as part of their preparation for the pre-Olympic qualifying event to continue their fight until the 2026 Winter Olympics.
