00:00The Fashion Industry
00:12Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Mediantv.
00:16Welcome if you are joining us.
00:18The fashion industry offers many opportunities,
00:20but for young talents, professional exercise remains a challenge.
00:24In the face of this, entrepreneurship turns out to be a real leap in employability,
00:30allowing fashion designers to make a place in the market and build sustainable businesses.
00:35Today, we welcome a guest who embodies this dynamic.
00:38Fashion designer and trainee, he accompanies young people in their entrepreneurial journey.
00:43With him, we will explore the keys to succeed in this sector
00:49and transform a passion into a real economic activity.
00:52But first, on the second edition of the National Day of Masters,
00:57an essential meeting for fashion and textile actors in Côte d'Ivoire.
01:01Placed under the theme of digitalization,
01:03a high level of acceleration for cultural and creative industries,
01:07this meeting aims to strengthen the professionalization of the sector
01:11and encourage its integration into the digital economy.
01:14These days will be held from the 23rd to the 25th of April.
01:19This is a report signed by Merle Bachelcoffi and Ferdinand Coiff.
01:24Ivorian fashion lacks neither talent nor creativity.
01:28However, a challenge persists.
01:30The lack of structuring and digitalization of textile industries.
01:34It is to respond to this problem that the National Day of Masters,
01:38initiated by the fashion designer Roger Bangot, has emerged.
01:41A space for training, networking and opportunities for professionals in the sector.
01:47On the occasion of the official launch of the 2025 edition,
01:50the initiator of the event came back to the ambitions of this platform
01:54dedicated to artisans and fashion entrepreneurs.
01:57It is a symposium, so it is a workshop of reflection,
02:00it is a training to understand and capture
02:02everything that is open in our sector of activity,
02:05which is a sector that encourages a lot of people,
02:09but which unfortunately is not always captured by our young people here,
02:13by our Ivorian actors.
02:15And also the training, we have four coaches who come to train,
02:19several modules, we will say,
02:23who have trained the artisans,
02:25and also we do the parade and the distinction,
02:28which we call the Masters Awards.
02:30The goal is clear, to transform Ivorian stylists into prosperous entrepreneurs
02:34and builders of the national economy.
02:37This ambition aligns with the vision of the Ministry of Culture,
02:41which fully supports this initiative
02:43to structure the sector and promote its expansion.
02:47The FinCulture guichet,
02:49which is a financing guichet
02:52of the ICC sector in Ivory Coast.
02:55And where I speak to you,
02:57the submission is always up-to-date.
03:01So we invited the actors of the sector,
03:04of the ICC, to participate in this project,
03:08which is very interesting,
03:10which allows the actors of this sector to have a financing,
03:14I would say, a support, a loan,
03:16allowing them to boost the sector
03:19and to be able to develop what they know how to do so well.
03:23In this second edition,
03:25the organizers intend to strengthen the impact of digitization
03:28in cultural and creative industries
03:30to make Ivorian fashion a pillar of the national economy
03:34and a vector of influence internationally.
03:41Isof, why did you choose Isof?
03:52I am in the company of a fashion creator,
03:55but also a young trainee in this field.
03:59Isof Tal, thank you for being with us,
04:02on the set of Africa Chic.
04:05Thank you too.
04:08Isof, why did you choose to get involved
04:11in the training and support of young people?
04:37I am 30 years old,
04:39but we can only think of transmitting
04:41what we have stored,
04:43hence the motivation.
04:45Very good.
04:46And you said 30 years in this profession,
04:49and a lot, let's say, of students,
04:53under your, let's say, mentor.
04:57So, what are the professions of fashion today
05:00that are the most important in terms of employment?
05:03Well, first of all, clothing fashion,
05:06that is, styling, which is a carrier of employment.
05:10And also, when we talk about fashion,
05:13we must also highlight hairdressing,
05:16and manicure.
05:20And all of this, for me,
05:23is truly a carrier of employment for youth.
05:27It is simply necessary,
05:29that youth must simply be aware of the challenges
05:34and then, well, pull their hair out of the game.
05:37And what is your vision of entrepreneurship
05:40in the industry of African fashion?
05:43Well, I must say, my vision is so clear,
05:46because today our society imposes entrepreneurship on us.
05:51It is true that it also has its enormous challenges,
05:55because rare, if not difficult,
05:58is to have funding,
06:01and very complicated is to have support.
06:04And so entrepreneurship presents itself as
06:08truly the means that will allow youth
06:12to take care of themselves and, above all, to be deployed.
06:16And so, for me, yes.
06:18Very good.
06:19Faced with the challenges of unemployment,
06:21how can fashion be a solution
06:24for young people looking for opportunities?
06:27That's a very good question.
06:29Because, yes, faced with the challenges of unemployment,
06:32if young people become aware of the fact that
06:36fashion offers them a platform...
06:41I'm going to joke a bit about the fact that
06:45today we are a little over 27 million in Côte d'Ivoire.
06:49You agree with me that
06:52if young people become aware of this number of people,
06:57no matter where they are,
06:59with a minimum of knowledge in the field of fashion,
07:02they will be able,
07:04whether it's in clothing or in hair,
07:08whether it's 100 people a month,
07:10you see the number that it can bring.
07:13And so, far from me,
07:16to attract everyone to fashion,
07:20but I think that the rega is ready.
07:23And anyone who wants to start today as a young person,
07:28we will say that maybe because I master my field,
07:31I encourage everyone to come to me.
07:33But no, I would say that it is truly
07:36a lever of employability for young people
07:39in Côte d'Ivoire at present.
07:41And what are the key skills
07:43that this youth must have
07:46to acquire, let's say,
07:48this success as an entrepreneur,
07:52precisely in fashion?
07:54Of course.
07:55You see, in the field of fashion,
07:57I had the chance to say it on your set here,
08:01you really have to be passionate.
08:03In any case, after the passion,
08:05because passion alone is not enough,
08:07you really have to get trained.
08:10And getting trained in the field of fashion is crucial
08:13to really see it as a lever of employability.
08:17So if the youth decides to get trained,
08:20and today they are trained,
08:22it is also due to e-commerce,
08:26it is also due to the maintenance of a Facebook account,
08:30so social networks.
08:32It is also due to the fact that, yes,
08:36digitization is important.
08:39And so, fashion alone does not allow,
08:43in any case, to be a lever of employability
08:45for the youth today.
08:47So everything else that I have mentioned
08:49must really take root.
08:51And for that, you must agree with me
08:53that it fails,
08:55otherwise the youth must be trained
08:57and accept to be trained.
08:59And training costs?
09:01Yes, training costs.
09:03Seven.
09:04But I think that Eversy,
09:06his future,
09:08so in terms of training,
09:10is something to be encouraged,
09:12no matter the value,
09:14so the weight that it can have on us.
09:16It is true that, and God bless today,
09:18training in the field of fashion in Côte d'Ivoire,
09:21I would not say it costs less,
09:24but you agree with me that, yes,
09:26it costs less than other training.
09:29And so for that,
09:31we are not going to put the spirit ahead.
09:34We will simply ask the youth
09:36to be trained,
09:38to accept to be trained
09:40and to be really passionate
09:42about this body of work.
09:44You mentioned digitization.
09:46This is what we saw earlier
09:48in the report of our colleagues,
09:50digitization at the center
09:52of the second edition
09:54of the National Day in Demet.
09:56But how can this digitization
09:58and social networks
10:00help to develop a brand?
10:02Well, first of all,
10:04the creation of a brand,
10:06you lend me the word,
10:08it is up to every entrepreneur,
10:11because it gives you
10:13to present a path,
10:15therefore a product.
10:17And who thinks that
10:19designing a brand
10:21has seen a need?
10:23And this need,
10:25those who have seen it,
10:27become our clientele target.
10:29And today,
10:31we are in a country
10:33where everything is found
10:35on social networks.
10:37And so the clientele is found.
10:39So our target clientele
10:41is found.
10:43So for that, e-commerce
10:45also comes to us.
10:47Because for a brand
10:49to be visible,
10:51there really needs to be
10:53self-communication,
10:55seductiveness.
10:57And then there are aspects
10:59of training,
11:01in the field of fashion
11:03and in the success
11:05of entrepreneurship,
11:07of youth.
11:09But also there is the fact
11:11that we can associate.
11:13There is this openness
11:15with people who have
11:17different knowledge,
11:19so as to give us
11:21truly visibility
11:23and the commercial sense,
11:25so the sense of the imposition
11:27has just shown
11:29that we have this opportunity.
11:31But there is also the partnership
11:33that exists to accomplish certain things.
11:35So we need to develop
11:37a partnership in this area.
11:39Of course, because what we don't have
11:41as knowledge,
11:43the other has.
11:45But this question
11:47also puts at night
11:49a problem.
11:51Because I have been able to observe
11:53the mistrust that exists
11:55between entrepreneurs.
11:57And this is also
11:59a problem
12:01that needs to be treated.
12:03Because for two people
12:05to accept to walk together,
12:07they need to trust each other.
12:09And the climate of trust
12:11is created.
12:13But I will go further.
12:15What is installed
12:17in this discomfort?
12:19Well, it's...
12:21The competition?
12:23I would not put this on the competition.
12:25Because we must say that
12:27we have also met
12:29people who have not
12:31been good faith
12:33in different partnerships.
12:35And so it gives birth to a gangrene
12:37that today has treated.
12:39But I think that
12:41the treatment is also
12:43in the fact that
12:45we are human beings
12:47and we are gregarious.
12:49Very well.
12:51We talked about the creation
12:53of MAG.
12:55It means that for MAG
12:57to see the light of day,
12:59we need well-thought-out projects.
13:01So how to transform
13:03a passion for fashion
13:05into a profitable and sustainable project?
13:09I also appreciate this question.
13:11And I will draw the attention
13:13of all those who observe us,
13:15who watch us
13:17in this show.
13:19Because a project is first of all
13:21an idea.
13:23We can have all the knowledge
13:25that goes with a body of work.
13:27But if we did not have the idea
13:29to create something
13:31from this knowledge,
13:33you agree with me
13:35that this knowledge will not
13:37serve us.
13:39And so when we had this idea
13:41and we designed this idea
13:43into a project,
13:45this is where the partnership
13:47between us was born.
13:49Because the mastery of his project
13:51will guide us in the sense
13:53of finding people
13:55or looking for skills
13:57that will allow us to
13:59carry out this project well.
14:01And that is the strength
14:03of entrepreneurship.
14:05If an entrepreneur is really
14:07aware of this,
14:09we were able to see
14:11Roger Bango right away
14:13in front of his project
14:15and he thought about it
14:17musically.
14:19And today it is a whole team
14:21in the realization.
14:23When it is well thought out,
14:25effectively in the design,
14:27there are people who can
14:29accompany us to realize it.
14:31So I will stop there.
14:33Very good.
14:35So you are a trainer,
14:37Roger Bango is also a trainer,
14:39and recently you participated
14:41in a training with the owner
14:43who trains a lot of young people.
14:45So according to you,
14:47the current training
14:49prepares young people
14:51sufficiently for entrepreneurship
14:53or to better invest in this field?
14:55Yes, today the training
14:57has really changed shape.
14:59If not on your set,
15:01I have heard people say
15:03that those who really left
15:05the training schools
15:07sometimes had impacts
15:09that had to be corrected.
15:11So with this training
15:13and the training
15:15that I give myself,
15:17in other terms,
15:19it is recycling.
15:21It is specific training
15:23in relation to data,
15:25in any case,
15:27to deal with specific words
15:29for each actor in this body.
15:31And what are the types of training
15:33that are most in demand?
15:35You agree with me
15:37that today the morphology is different.
15:39You will find stylists
15:41who will tell you
15:43that they can't dress
15:45people, for example, wrong.
15:47So how to treat that?
15:49How to bring them
15:51with this temper?
15:53And it becomes a specific training
15:55specific to this person
15:57in relation to
15:59a morphology that they can't
16:01dress.
16:03And so today,
16:05when you become an entrepreneur
16:07or when you decide
16:09to be an entrepreneur
16:11in the field of fashion,
16:13there is this little point
16:15that you have to try to correct.
16:17Because an entrepreneur
16:19is also an opportunist.
16:21And if you have impacts,
16:23you will lose opportunities
16:25that may lead you to regret
16:27tomorrow in relation
16:29to your spirit of entrepreneurship.
16:31But are there
16:33support programs
16:35for these young people
16:37to be structured or financed?
16:39I would say yes.
16:41I would say yes
16:43because today,
16:45with young employment,
16:47it is an incubator
16:49that has within it
16:51elements that allow
16:53to support and
16:55structure
16:57young people in their spirit
16:59of creation
17:01and therefore entrepreneurship.
17:03I would also say
17:05that it is still not enough
17:07because not everyone has access.
17:09And that is the problem
17:11of our society.
17:13Do the companies
17:15in the sector
17:17easily recruit
17:19independent workers
17:21or self-entrepreneurs?
17:23Today,
17:25when we talk about entrepreneurship,
17:27it is because employability
17:29has become problematic.
17:31Therefore,
17:33each of us must
17:35awaken the spirit of entrepreneurship,
17:37hence the promotion
17:39of collaborations
17:41and partnerships.
17:43But indeed, there are some,
17:45but it is also very few.
17:47It is also very few.
17:49This means that
17:51we really need
17:53the climate
17:55to be healthy.
17:57And you agree with me
17:59that today,
18:03we are making mistakes
18:05in the business world
18:07because our culture
18:09is individualistic.
18:11We have not put forward
18:13the fact of having
18:15well-defined contracts
18:17because in the field
18:19of fashion,
18:21here we must also
18:23ensure that it is taxed
18:25by an informal body.
18:27And the young people
18:29in this business
18:31are mostly
18:33locked up
18:35because they have no knowledge
18:37of fashion
18:39compared to young academics
18:41who have graduated
18:43from so-called
18:45conventional schools.
18:47And so,
18:49it creates another problem
18:51in this business world.
18:53Can young people
18:55in this business world
18:57learn from us?
18:59Well, most of the young people
19:01who come to us
19:03continue because
19:05when you have a customer
19:07like Pateo
19:09who can tell you
19:11that yes,
19:13for his effort,
19:15he had to meet
19:17pioneers of his time
19:19and he ended up
19:21for example
19:23in the case of Chris Seydoux
19:25who enjoys quoting himself.
19:27And so, as you can see,
19:29it shows that
19:31yes, young people can count
19:33on what they have today
19:35as a customer because
19:37whether they want it or not,
19:39the transmission is imposed on us.
19:41And today we are in a phase
19:43where if you don't transmit,
19:45well,
19:47in any case,
19:49you will only have tears in your eyes
19:51and it will evolve without you.
19:53And you are currently on a project,
19:55you are preparing
19:57an activity
19:59that you will lead on entrepreneurship
20:01and employability.
20:03Can we talk about it?
20:05With pleasure,
20:07with pleasure because
20:09entrepreneurship for me
20:11highlights
20:13in any case the skills
20:15and the will
20:17to be deployed.
20:19And that is a strong engine,
20:21it is a bell
20:23that must ring in each of us
20:25because yes,
20:27when I, for example,
20:29sit down and I see that there is
20:31a state competition
20:33where we may need
20:3530,000 people and we have
20:375,000 people lining up,
20:39well, I don't come back.
20:41Whereas when you are an entrepreneur
20:43and you believe in what you do,
20:45well, there is no reason
20:47for it not to succeed.
20:49Now,
20:51where does the creation
20:53of this activity come from?
20:55In any case, what is the relationship
20:57between entrepreneurs on a recreational day
20:59under the theme
21:01of employability
21:03and otherwise
21:05entrepreneurship as a lever of employability
21:07for youth? I think
21:09it is something that really
21:11needs to be encouraged.
21:13But also, if this project,
21:15I would like to show
21:17what you have put forward,
21:19because you see, you can
21:21send emails to institutions
21:23that you have known for more than a month
21:25and that do not give you an answer.
21:27All these are challenges that the entrepreneur
21:29has to deal with.
21:31And when you are not sure of your project,
21:33you see that this can
21:35lead you to failure.
21:37But when you are sure,
21:39well, we say,
21:41because we believe in our project,
21:43that it has become a project
21:45and we believe in its achievement.
21:47And for me, this is what needs to be born
21:49in each and every one of us
21:51in this 21st century,
21:53so that entrepreneurship
21:55is really a lever of employability
21:57for youth.
21:59And what results do you expect
22:01from this initiative?
22:03A great satisfaction of the participants,
22:05especially a very good result,
22:07because let's say
22:09that in entrepreneurship,
22:11it is the result that allows
22:13the entrepreneur to maintain himself.
22:15And if we manage to build relationships
22:17with a dozen people
22:19and we manage to develop business
22:21with only five,
22:23in the course of the year,
22:25very good business,
22:27well, we go into our turnover
22:29and so it becomes encouraging.
22:31And so that's my goal.
22:33And I think that all those who will come
22:35will have to leave with that
22:37engraved in their memory.
22:39Are there any concrete examples
22:41of young people who have followed
22:43one of your training
22:45and who have succeeded
22:47or who have succeeded
22:49in entering this field?
22:51Yes, because as I said,
22:53after a little over 30 years
22:55of experience in this
22:57profession, today
22:59when you take the municipality
23:01of Cocody,
23:03Ayame, Benjaville,
23:05Abogo,
23:07Trecheville,
23:09you will find
23:11workshops
23:13that are very good
23:15in health
23:17and who are people trained
23:19by Tal Yisouf
23:21and so
23:23who were born,
23:25in any case, their passion
23:27really took birth
23:29during the various training
23:31and during the visits
23:33of the person I am.
23:35So not to be jealous,
23:37I will not name names,
23:39but all the municipalities I have mentioned
23:41and even the cities of the interior
23:43where I come from, there are examples.
23:45What are the main
23:47obstacles to the success
23:49of young entrepreneurs
23:51in today's fashion?
23:53I don't know.
23:55What are the main obstacles
23:57to the success of young entrepreneurs
23:59in today's fashion?
24:01We put it before
24:03because today
24:05the lack of funding
24:07is really a seed
24:09for the evolution of young entrepreneurs.
24:11Yes, the lack of funding.
24:13And then
24:15unfortunately for us,
24:17the banks
24:19you see,
24:21you allow me to say something
24:23that I feel. For me,
24:25until today, there are no
24:27investment banks
24:29at home. We only have
24:31commercial banks.
24:33It's tiring because you can have
24:35a beautiful project
24:37and you are looking for funding
24:39to realize it
24:41and the bank will ask you
24:43for physical guarantees
24:45while
24:47everyone does not have it.
24:49And that's really what
24:51prevents the entrepreneur
24:53from moving forward.
24:55Because he can have great ideas
24:57and then also
24:59First of all, you finance
25:01a project that is viable.
25:03Yes, but you agree with me
25:05that the viability of a project
25:07lies in the development
25:09of the project's
25:11bearer.
25:13Someone
25:15may have an idea that he has
25:17transformed into a project
25:19and it goes to you.
25:21Maybe you don't see
25:23its bearing
25:25but
25:27or at least maybe
25:29in relation to his conception
25:31there are points that he did not take into account
25:33but you see that right away when he is accompanied
25:35we realize together
25:37but
25:39it's a boom.
25:41But when we refuse
25:43under the pretext that he could not
25:45have a swallow,
25:47he could not have
25:49let's say
25:51a cushion.
25:53For me, these are things
25:55that hinder the entrepreneurship of young people
25:57and precisely at home.
25:59And we understood that very well.
26:01We are at the end of this show very quickly.
26:03What advice would you give to young people
26:05who are hesitating between looking for a job
26:07and starting on their own?
26:09Well, I would say
26:11quite simply that
26:13for those who caught a gazelle
26:15otherwise it's not all those who run
26:17who catch a gazelle
26:19but those who catch it by running.
26:21Ironic.
26:23In any case, thank you
26:25for answering our different questions.
26:27You understood it.
26:29You were with the creators of the show
26:31and the trainers as well.
26:33This is the end of this show.
26:35Thank you to the team in charge.
26:37Thank you to all those who followed us.
26:39And we'll see you very soon for our number.
26:41Until then, be well.
