00:00I just want to get your sense of where Trump is on your mind, even though you are trying to broaden ties with ASEAN and this part of the world,
00:11visually you will have to at some point deal with and talk to the Trump administration, where is that in terms of where you are right now,
00:23where the Malaysian government is, talks or phone calls and so on. Following on from that, Trump expects to have a meeting of sorts with President Xi,
00:37possibly a state visit to Beijing, a lot of people are watching that. What does Malaysia expect out of a high-level US-China summit?
00:48I can give you the perspective of our Ministry of Investment and Trade. Regarding where we stand, the US continues to be a very important trading partner.
01:01Our number one export destination is the United States, second is China, and the biggest investments that are coming in for the last nine months is from US companies.
01:13Of course, we continue to engage. There are always areas where we can improve on, but when it comes to trade and investments, there is no change.
01:23We are engaging the relevant institutions, agencies and stakeholders in the US through our various platforms that we have.
01:35Of course, we have done some work in preparing for any possible actions taken, but of course, as you know, there is none just yet, but many say it is inevitable.
01:50We in Malaysia will continue to engage and understand and try to see what are the concerns and how we can assist to mitigate some of the concerns,
02:00be it trade deficits or technologies or areas where we can work closer.
02:06That is the position of our ministry and I am in fact having plans to go to the US to engage US investors and our trade as well between the two countries.
