00:16The figure skating pair Alexander Corvin and Isabella Gamez is among those who showcased their talents for the Philippines at the recently concluded 9th Asian Winter Games.
00:26Corvin and Gamez displayed an extraordinary routine in the short and free skate program where they recorded scores of 55.63 and 99.99.
00:36The figure skating duo earned a total score of 155.62 and finished 4th place just one step away from their hoped for podium finish.
00:46In an interview with the Philippine figure skating pair, Gamez became emotional as she expressed her desire to bring home an Asian Winter Games medal for the country.
00:56It means so much. I'm about to cry because I really wanted it for the country. I put a lot of pressure on myself carrying the flag because I really love our country and my goal is to promote winter sports.
01:12Corvin said that they will carry this Asian Winter Games experience in their future competitions.
01:18It's a good experience. Big competition, big event, big audience. It's a good experience. I hope it will help us later.
01:32Philippine Skating Union President Nikki Cheng also outlined the upcoming competitions that Corvin and Gamez will participate in which will serve as qualifications for the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics.
01:46They have last two chances and the World Championships for this year is an Olympic qualifying event. So there are only two Olympic qualifying events for figure skating. One is in March and another is in September. So if they do not make it this March, it means they have one last chance in September.
