00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. helped the implementing agencies of the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act.

00:16President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called a meeting in Malacanang where he discussed smuggling.

00:22The meeting is also part of the government's effort to control the price of food products.

00:30On September 26, 2024, when the President passed the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act,

00:37the effective steps to avoid the entry of smuggled agricultural products are expected to be implemented.

00:45It is also expected that the proper payment of taxes and tariffs will be implemented.

00:50The law also stipulates that the punitive punishment will be imposed not only on the masterminds

00:56but also on those involved in smuggling agricultural products.

01:02Let me be clear, this law does not just target the masterminds.

01:07It holds all accomplices accountable, financiers, brokers, employees, even transporters.

01:14Under the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act,

01:18the Council is established and led by the President.

01:22Various government agencies and entities from the agricultural sector are formed.

01:28Its goal is to ensure a proper and effective implementation of the law against illegal activities

01:33such as smuggling, hoarding, profiteering, and cartels in the agricultural sector.

01:39There is also the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Enforcement Group,

01:43a special unit established under the law to carry out operations

01:48against those who violate the provisions of the law,

01:52particularly those involved in economic sabotage in agriculture.

01:57At the same time, Agriculture Secretary Francisco T. Laurel

02:02said that the government will be more vigilant in its pursuit of smugglers

02:07and that this can be achieved because of the Republic Act 12022.
