00:00Ladies and gentlemen, hello and welcome to this new edition around economic news in Morocco.
00:14The standard of living has improved between 2014 and 2022, with a sharp increase between 2014 and 2019,
00:23and a decline between 2019 and 2022, a period marked by the COVID-19 pandemic.
00:29This is what emerges from the national survey on the level of life of households published by the Haut Commissariat au Plomb.
00:36Between 2014 and 2022, the average annual expenditure per household went from 76,317 to 83,713 dirhams on a national scale,
00:48corresponding to 95,386 dirhams in urban areas and 56,769 dirhams in rural areas.
00:57According to the same source, the survey indicates a progression in the level of life among the 20% of the least wealthy, but also among the 20% of the richest.
01:06Another important observation, the middle class has not been able to benefit as much from the fruits of growth or redistribution policies.
01:17We still remain with the data from the national survey conducted between March 2022 and March 2023 for nearly 18,000 households.
01:26The average annual income of Moroccan households has improved in recent years.
01:31It rises to 89,170 dirhams per year at the national level,
01:36an average income of 103,520 dirhams in urban areas and 56,047 dirhams in rural areas.
01:45Per person, the average annual income is 21,949 dirhams in 2022.
01:51It is twice as high in urban areas as in rural areas.
01:55However, the survey shows a great disparity.
01:58Indeed, more than 7 households out of 10 have an average annual income of less than average,
02:03with disparities between the urban environment and the rural environment.
02:10And then, the rate of absolute poverty globally declined between 2014 and 2022 in Morocco,
02:15going from 4.8% to 3.9% after reaching a rate of 1.7% in 2019.
02:24This reduction concerns the rural environment with a drop in poverty,
02:29going from 9.5% in 2014 to 6.9% in 2022.
02:34However, in urban areas, poverty recorded a slight rise from 1.6% in 2014 to 2.2% in 2022.
02:43In total, the effective population of the poor at the national level is 1.42 million in 2022.
02:50The five regions have a poverty rate higher than the national average, estimated at 3.9%.
02:56These are Fesm Kness 9%, Gelmim Wednoun 7.6%, Bnim Lalkheni Frassis 6.6%,
03:04Deraat Sefilat 4.9% and Loriental 4.2%.
03:11Before closing the page, Morocco, know that the Central Bank indicates
03:15that the participatory financing of the Sinal Habitat in the form of real estate profits
03:21has continued its progress in 2024.
03:24It was established at 24.9 billion dirhams against 21.6 billion dirhams a year earlier.
03:31This constitutes an increase of 15.1% in annual inflation.
03:35On their side, the loans awarded to households have recorded an annual increase of 1.7%,
03:41mainly with an increase of 1.7% of the loans to the habitat and 1.4% of those to consumption, according to Bancal Marib.
03:52In international economic news, Spain's trade deficit fell 0.7% in 2024, reaching 40.2 billion euros.
04:03According to the Ministry of Economy, this decline is mainly explained by the drop in energy imports,
04:10which fell 7.8% in annual inflation to reach 58.5 billion euros.
04:17Spanish exports have progressed by 0.2% compared to 2023,
04:22while imports have recorded a slight rise of 0.1%.
04:27The sectors that have contributed the most to the growth of exports include food,
04:33drinks, raw materials and other goods.
04:36Spanish exports have been mainly drawn to the European Union by 61.8%,
04:43reaching record levels in 15 countries, including Italy, Portugal and Poland.
04:50In the wake of the economic news, Italy also displayed an excess of 54.92 billion euros in net costs in 2024,
05:01thanks to the drop in energy bills.
05:04According to the National Institute of Statistics, the energy balance deficit was thus reduced to less than 49.5 billion euros last year,
05:13compared to less than 65.13 billion euros in 2023.
