00:00Uganda appears to have swiftly contained an outbreak of Ebola, which was confirmed last
00:07month.
00:08On Tuesday, health authorities discharged the last eight patients who made a successful
00:13recovery from the disease.
00:17This survivor recalled his ordeal with a highly fetal hemorrhagic fever.
00:21This thing is not easy.
00:23Some people out there may think it's a joke.
00:26But for us who have actually, who happen to have it, we know how hard it is.
00:35Because it has stages.
00:36You start feeling some headache, some fever, the temperature may go high, and from there
00:44the second thing may be, now you start now diureting, getting challenges with breathing.
00:54And when you reach the stage of now having blood out of you, of course it's out of
01:01control.
01:02I think the doctors.
01:03A male nurse who died the day before the outbreak was confirmed remains the only fatality recorded.
01:08As you know, there's no specific treatment for Ebola.
01:12So we give supportive treatment.
01:15Specifically, we manage pain, we replace fluids as they lose them, and we feed them.
01:30Ugandan officials documented at least 265 contacts from the initial infection.
01:36At least 90 of them have shown no signs of Ebola.
01:42We successfully managed to have all the contacts under quarantine.
01:49In addition, we also had the opportunity to carry out ring vaccination of contacts.
01:56So we don't have any other suspected cases that we are moving to quarantine.
02:03The World Health Organization described the recoveries as a milestone, and that they reflected
02:08Uganda's speedy response to the outbreak.
