An overcast, breezy and damp night for many, with another widespread band of rain moving north-eastwards across the country, heavy at times across Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England. This will turn lighter and patchier through the night. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 19/02/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Alex Deakin.

00:00Thanks for joining me for your evening weather update from the Met Office. The
00:04weather's definitely changed. Milder air has moved in and that's brought with it
00:09cloud and rain. We've seen some pulses of rain across the country already and
00:13another band of rain becoming pretty widespread through this evening. Some
00:16heavier rain at times for Northern Ireland this evening and that heavier
00:19rain spreading into Scotland and across Northern England. It's getting a bit lighter
00:23and more patchy through the night but overall an overcast night, a breezy
00:27night and for many a damp night. And it is going to be a mild night. In fact
00:32turning milder as we go through the night. If we rewind the clock and put the
00:36temperatures on, just watch as the rain moves in the temperatures actually start
00:41to tick up so that yeah we could dip down to three or four degrees in the
00:45east for a time through the evening. But by the time we start Thursday we're up
00:49at seven or eight Celsius and many western areas will start the day in
00:53double figures. So it starts quite mild but it doesn't feel that mild because it's
00:58still pretty breezy particularly in the west and it is cloudy with outbreaks of
01:02rain. That rain likes to be pretty heavy through the morning across Northern
01:05Ireland. Brighter colours there then work into Western Scotland. Northwest England
01:10seeing some heavier pulse of rain along with North Wales. Eastern England may
01:13start dry. Some showery rain that does work in here particularly for Kent and
01:18Essex. Something a bit brighter then develops for Wales. Northwest England
01:22come the end of the day. It cheers up for a time across Scotland and Northern
01:25Ireland but then more showers come packing in here because it will be quite
01:29a blustery and gusty day around these western coasts even though we should see
01:34some sunny spells developing. We'll certainly see the temperatures ticking up. Look at that
01:3813, 14 degrees. We could even see 15 perhaps even close to 16 degrees in one
01:44or two spots. That's a lot milder than it has been. Now this chart shows how the
01:48temperatures change over 24 hours and you can see that milder air really
01:54moving in and temperatures by Thursday afternoon some six degrees above the
02:01average for many central and northern parts having been a few degrees below
02:04average for most of February. So yes it's turning milder but there'll still be
02:10plenty of showers around across Scotland, Northern England during Thursday evening.
02:13For many though it will turn drier for a time but look at this another batch of
02:18wet and increasingly windy weather comes in during Friday. The winds getting
02:22really quite gusty around these western coasts. The west coast of Wales, east
02:26coast of Northern Ireland through the early hours of Friday morning. But again
02:30those winds are coming up from the south so they're bringing mild air so many will
02:34stay in double digits into Friday morning. But Friday is a wet and a windy
02:39day for quite a few of us. Heavy pulses of rain and those gusty winds as I talked
02:43about the west coast of Wales, the east coast of Northern Ireland, southwestern
02:47parts of Scotland. There's a warning in place and there's also rain warning
02:50across parts of Scotland because for some here stays very wet throughout the
02:54day. Pulses of rain further south again much of eastern England probably not
02:58seeing too much and Northern Ireland may well turn brighter but still blustery
03:03with a few showers. And look at the numbers again for many of us getting
03:06into the teens 15 or perhaps even 16 at Celsius. Again that perhaps not feeling
03:12as mild as those numbers would suggest because of the strength of the wind. And
03:16there's more wet and windy weather to come. Low pressure continues to dominate
03:19moved in from the Atlantic change things up and then another one comes in for
03:25Saturday night and into Sunday. Saturday looks a lot drier certainly many western
03:29areas compared to Friday but by Sunday another deep low another weather front
03:33more closely packed isobar so more wet and windy weather is on the cards. Keep
