Bradford City boss Graham Alexander has spoken on the importance of Bradford City ahead of their home fixture with MK Dons.
Transcript
00:00Bradford City are a proud club with a long history. They may have missed out on a trip to Wembley in the EFL trophy, but they still plan on writing more history this season.
00:11Their recent league form has seen them move in and amongst the automatic promotion places in League 2, although at present they sit just outside them by one point.
00:20Graham Alexander and his players know just how important promotion back to League 1 would be, and are set on achieving that for the club.
00:29When asked about Bradford City as a club and what it meant to the supporters in terms of the experience, Alexander understood just how significant it is to the city, especially if he were to achieve success.
00:39Yeah, I think it has to go beyond just the games. You know, I think that's the biggest thing that football fans come to football for, for the matches and the games.
00:48But, you know, the way the world is now, I think that we're much more aligned to the whole experience of any event and certainly sporting matches in general.
01:01And there's an all round sort of package of looking after supporters. You know, certainly if you think about it and some of you old boys going back to the games in the days when we were teenagers, it was the match and the match only basically.
01:13And the rest of it was pretty horrid. But yeah, I think football clubs have done a lot of work in not just connecting with sports on match day, but also during the week and everything.
01:22It's really important, I think, because football clubs do have a major, important part to play in people's lives. And right, so it's a great sport and we should expand how we interact with our supporters.
01:33And the club try to make great strides. We're not perfect, but we try to do our best and we're always open to feedback.
01:40Moving back to matters on the pitch, Alexander was also questioned on the winning mentality at the club, as well as the fight and desire to see Bradford back into the higher divisions of the English pyramid.
01:50Given how well the Bantams have played in recent weeks, maintaining these assets will naturally be the key to success for the rest of the season.
02:00Alexander was certainly bullish on the matter and made very clear that his players have the correct mentality and desire to fight and win.
02:07Whilst winning every game will always be unrealistic, he added, his players will never give up, something which supporters will love to hear, especially at this crucial stage of the season.
02:19On MK Dons, Alexander made clear he would not over or underestimate them as opponents, but approach the game as he has approached all recent fixtures that has seen the Bantams pick up many valuable points.
02:31In their quest to move up the table and be promoted, the focus will be on Bradford's performance instead.
02:38And the fact that the game is at Valley Parade is also an advantage for Bradford, with their recent home form being one of the main catalysts for their rise up the table.
02:47Alexander spoke of supporters being excited to attend home games and creating a buzz about the stadium on a match day, which has helped inspire many of the victories.
