Wiping away tears and carrying boxes, laid-off and terminated USAID workers depart headquarters

A dozen people gather to support terminated and laid-off US Agency for International Development workers as they departed the agency's headquarters in Washington on Feb. 21, 2025. Earlier on the same day, a federal judge declined to block the Trump administration from putting more than 2,000 US Agency for International Development workers on leave, a setback for government employee unions suing over what they have called an effort to dismantle the foreign aid agency.
