00:00set to be cut in a year of waste, fraud, and abuse
00:03by unelected bureaucrats.
00:05We're hearing this ironic narrative
00:07from the president's critics and the left-wing media
00:09that Elon Musk is an unelected bureaucrat
00:12and he's doing all this terrible stuff.
00:14Isn't one of Doge's objectives to get rid
00:17of the federal bureaucracy, the deep state?
00:20And also, who was running the White House
00:23when Joe Biden was in office?
00:24Because I don't know a single person
00:26who believes it was Joe Biden.
00:27You're tempting me to say some very harsh things
00:32about some of our media friends.
00:34Yes, it is true that many of the people in this room
00:37for four years failed to cover the fact
00:39that Joe Biden was mentally incompetent
00:43and was not running the country.
00:45It is also true that many people in this room
00:48who have used this talking point that Elon is not elected
00:51fail to understand how government works.
00:54So I'm glad for the opportunity for a brief civics lesson.
00:58A president is elected by the whole American people.
00:59He's the only official in the entire government
01:02that is elected by the entire nation, right?
01:06Judges are appointed.
01:07Members of Congress are elected at the district
01:09or state level, just one man.
01:10And the Constitution, Article 2, has a clause known
01:13as the Vesting Clause.
01:14And it says the executive power shall be vested
01:16in a president, singular.
01:18The whole will of democracy is imbued
01:22into the elected president.
01:24That president then appoints staff to then impose
01:27that democratic will onto the government.
01:30The threat to democracy, the existential threat
01:33to democracy is the unelected bureaucracy
01:37of lifetime tenured civil servants who believe they answer
01:40to no one, who believe they can do whatever they want
01:43without consequence, who believe they can set their own agenda no
01:46matter what Americans vote for.
01:48So Americans vote for radical FBI reform,
01:51and FBI agents say they don't want to change.
01:53Or Americans vote for radical reform under energy policies,
01:56but EPA bureaucrats say they don't want to change.
01:58Or Americans vote to end DEI, racist DEI policies.
02:03And lawyers in the Department
02:04of Justice say they don't want to change.
02:06What President Trump is doing is he is removing federal
02:11bureaucrats who are defying democracy by failing
02:14to implement his lawful orders, which are the will
02:19of the whole American people.
02:23Thank you very much, everybody.
02:24I'm looking at the clock.
02:25We've almost had an hour of time.
02:27I know a couple of these individuals have a meeting
02:29to get to at 2 p.m. So you're welcome to follow
02:32up with my team for further questions.
02:34We're going to let these guys get back
02:35to running the United States government.
02:37And we will see you all later.
02:39President Trump will be speaking at 3 o'clock
02:40at the Black History Month reception.
02:42So thank you.
02:43It's good to see you.
02:45We'll see you in a bit.
02:46Thanks.
02:48Stephen, on the floor, should we expect a dimension
02:50of the United States government for all the problems we've found?
02:52I'd love to follow up with you just
02:53at the time of the hearing.
