Metal detection search law in Queensland to become permanent following successful two-year trial

The Crisafulli government says the number of Queenslanders searched with a metal detection wand under "Jacks Law" operations reached 100-thousand today. The two-year trial was prompted by the stabbing death of a Gold Coast teenager and the law is about to become permanent. Almost a thousand weapons have already been seized, including knives, machetes and screwdrivers.
