00:00I mean, everyone wants an end to this war, of course.
00:04I mean, Russia, of course, invaded Ukraine three years ago,
00:09having already annexed Crimea a decade earlier.
00:13I mean, do you think there's a realization at the White House?
00:15Because, I mean, you'd have thought
00:17there would be some support for a country that
00:18had been invaded and that had now lost, let's say,
00:2120% of its territory.
00:23Or do you think that perhaps there's
00:25an opinion in the Trump administration
00:27that Russia was stoked by NATO and acted out of necessity
00:35and had no other choice but to invade Ukraine?
00:38I mean, what do you think is the thinking in the Trump
00:40administration?
00:41My dealings here in Washington, DC,
00:43with many of the folks that are in or adjacent
00:46to the administration, I don't pick that up.
00:48And my assessment is NATO expansion, quite to the contrary,
00:51has actually prevented the worst behavior
00:55by the Russians.
00:57Historically, we can go back and look at the record on that,
00:59interventions even from the Soviet times.
01:02So I don't subscribe to that, and I
01:03don't think most people do.
01:05And I think there is a wide acknowledgment
01:07that the Ukrainian people have fought very bravely
01:10and continue to.
