06 March - national forecast presented by Honor Criswick
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good afternoon. Some warm spring sunshine for some, but a change for others
00:06with more cloud and also some showery outbreaks. It was quite a misty and murky start for parts
00:10of the south, but it's brightened up nicely through this afternoon. We'll see the best
00:14of the sunshine around North Sea Coast, parts of East Anglia, Sussex and Kent too, for example,
00:19and feeling warm where we see that sunshine as well. But across parts of the west, Wales,
00:24Devon and Cornwall, more clouds spilling into the skies here and likely to see some showers
00:29by the afternoon too. And after quite a wet start across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland,
00:33we'll see that frontal system shift its way northwards, allowing for a brighter and slightly
00:37drier afternoon too. And take a look at those temperatures. Highs of around 16, possibly
00:4217 Celsius, so well above average for the time of year. And where we see that sunshine
00:47stick around, we could reach 17 Celsius. That'll make it the warmest day of the year so far.
00:52Into the evening though, more and more clouds spilling in from the west, I'm afraid. More
00:56showers and longer spells of rain on its way, perhaps even seeing some heavier bursts
01:01overnight too. Still some clear spells sticking around across parts of the southeast, parts
01:06of Scotland too, but with more cloud around, that means temperatures generally remain just
01:10above freezing. So not quite seeing as many frosty starts by the time we reach tomorrow,
01:15but we could see some patchy frost across parts of Scotland, parts of East Anglia, but
01:19nothing quite as widespread as we've seen earlier in the week. So a cloudy and dull
01:25start for many of us, still seeing some outbreaks of rain through the morning and it does tend
01:29to linger, particularly across parts of Wales, northern parts of England through much of
01:33the day. Scotland and Northern Ireland seeing a much better start and seeing more of that
01:37sunshine as we head into the afternoon. And similar across East Anglia too, that's where
01:41we'll see the best of the brightness. And still temperatures widely above average, highs
01:46around 15, possibly 16 Celsius, once again where we see the sunniest skies, but a slightly
01:52cooler feeling day for many under cloudier skies. And as we head through into the weekend,
01:58well there's still a chance of some more unsettled weather, low pressure swirling around into
02:03the Atlantic, dragging in some frontal systems at times, so some outbreaks of rain yes, but
02:07there's actually going to be still plenty of dry weather on the weekend and still very
02:10mild for the time of year, so where we see those sunnier spells it is still going to
02:14be feeling pleasant and feeling more like spring. That's it from me, bye bye.
