00:04U.S. President Trump signed an executive order on March 3rd
00:08to increase tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China,
00:11causing opposition from three countries and taking countermeasures.
00:14However, just one day after the increase in tariffs,
00:17Trump announced that he would temporarily grant tariffs on Canadian and Mexican automobile companies
00:22for one month until April 2nd.
00:25U.S. State Department Spokesperson Caroline Carroll said yesterday
00:27that Trump was in talks with three major automobile manufacturers,
00:30Ford, Toyota and Stellantis,
00:33and decided to grant tariffs on Canadian and Mexican automobiles for one month
00:38so that U.S. automobiles could have a buffer period
00:40to ensure that they would not be treated unfairly.
00:43In any case, the decision to postpone tariffs also reflected
00:46U.S. automobiles' concerns about high tariffs.
00:49Some people are even more worried.
00:51If tariffs were to be implemented as scheduled on April 2nd,
00:54the North American automobile market would be hit hard.
00:59We are going to give a one-month exemption on any autos coming through USMCA.
01:04Reciprocal tariffs will still go into effect on April 2nd.
01:08U.S. Secretary of State Caroline Carroll said
01:10that President Trump believes that increasing tariffs
01:13will allow the U.S. to re-energize its economy and repay its debt.
01:16For the outside world, the increase in tariffs is likely to trigger an economic downturn.
01:20Caroline Carroll also refuted.
01:22Well, the president does love tariffs.
01:24He said it's one of his favorite words in the English dictionary.
01:27And he believes in tariffs because they'll ultimately make America rich again.
01:31Most importantly, they're going to bring American jobs here back home.
01:34So I think for folks on Wall Street who may be concerned,
01:37look at what this president did for you in his first term.
01:39Wall Street boomed. Stock market boomed.
01:41The president expects that to happen again.
01:43The fact that the U.S. is increasing tariffs on Canadian and Mexican imported goods
01:47is already a fact.
01:49However, some U.S. manufacturers are concerned about this.
01:51They fear that tariffs will increase costs,
01:53resulting in increased goods prices and affecting customer demand.
01:57From Canada, we probably get 25% to 30% of our materials.
02:03The Canadian suppliers are freaking out,
02:06and they're going to try and shove it down our throats.
02:09They're really, really mad and hurt and feeling anti-U.S. right now.
