00:00Regan, congratulations, you are the U21 Sportsman of the Year, how does that feel?
00:04Obviously I'm absolutely buzzing, I wasn't sure if I should come back for it but I'm
00:08absolutely beyond glad I came back for it now.
00:11Last time I spoke to you was in Guernsey about 18 months ago and obviously you had an amazing
00:16breakout game there but then 2024 you've just gone from strength to strength haven't you?
00:20Yeah, honestly I didn't think it was going to go this well to be honest, after 2023 I
00:26thought you know what, if I can just build on this and even just stay consistent but
00:302024 got even better, got the GB call up and went to Euros, obviously I honestly think
00:36now the sky's the limit, just keep pushing.
00:39I think you've just answered the question, the next question was what was the highlight
00:41of 2024, I'm guessing it was the Europeans?
00:43Yeah absolutely, it was going to the Europeans and competing with the best in Europe and
00:46then towards the end of the season, just got the timings wrong of the season, in September
00:50managed to get the European lead and ranked fourth in the world, I'm buzzing with that
00:54as well.
00:55It's so early in your career as well, I mean to say you've really announced yourself in
01:00the last few years and you just go from strength to strength.
01:03So 2025 has obviously started well for you already, records, personal bests, so what's
01:10next for you?
01:11To be honest we're just going to keep pushing, I had a bit of trouble during October just
01:16with illness and so I didn't get as much training as I wanted to but so indoors, still managed
01:21to get PBs, records and pushing medals at nationals, so outdoors you can guarantee I'll
01:25be medalling nationally, internationally and with that extra training honestly the sky's
01:30the limit like I say.
01:31You're based in Loughborough now, how's all that going, are you studying over there and
01:36everything, is it all going well?
01:38Yeah so I'm studying over there at the minute, I'm doing sports coaching and really enjoying
01:42it, I'm just enjoying the whole environment, like you walk down to the track sometimes
01:45and you see Olympians and world champions and you're like one day I'm going to be competing
01:49with these guys and really pushing them, it's a great environment to be around mentally,
01:53physically, just everything, it's great.
01:56And speaking of mixing it with an elite calibre athlete obviously tonight, in this sort of
02:01room, it just makes you wonder just how well we do on the international stage, the other
02:05man, you look at Cavendish and obviously everyone else, is it giving you that added incentive
02:10to just go even further?
02:11Oh yeah 100%, I must have watched Cavendish's record made documentary show nearly 10 times,
02:19so to see him in person and have a chat with him and get a picture, honestly I'm absolutely
02:22buzzing, almost as good as winning the award, I'm absolutely buzzing with that.
02:26Good, well congratulations on the award and all the best for the rest of the season.
