Much of the UK continuing fine and dry with spells of sunshine. High cloud making things hazy at times across the southwest. Cloud and outbreaks of rain affecting Orkney and Shetland. Feeling pleasant and very mild for the time of year, with temperatures widely in the teens and as high as 18 or 19 degrees across central areas, perhaps as high as 20 degrees in one or two spots. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the afternoon of 09/03/2025. 00:00Good afternoon, well many of us have seen plenty of warm spring sunshine but a
00:05change is in store with much colder conditions coming down from the north
00:09and that's all to do with this cold front across northern parts of Scotland.
00:13It will gradually sink its way southwards introducing a much colder air
00:18than what we've had in recent days. For all of us this will come through on
00:22Tuesday. So through the rest of this afternoon there are many places holding on to
00:28a good deal of sunshine across much of the UK. Hazy at times across the
00:32southwest but across the far north of Scotland, Orkney and Shetland that's
00:37where we have heavier spells of rain associated with this cold front. But for
00:43temperatures it's still going to be feeling a pleasant especially for the
00:46time of year. We'll see highs climbing 18, 19 possibly even 20 degrees across
00:52central parts of England today. So well above average for this time of year.
00:57So as we go through Sunday evening then it is going to be turning damp across much
01:02of Scotland as this band of rain continues to slowly sink its way
01:06southwards. We'll turn wintry on the hills as well with a blustery wind
01:10coming in from the north. Elsewhere holding on to a lot more cloud across
01:14southern parts of England perhaps even with a few spots of rain. But for most
01:18places it should stay frost free perhaps with some mist and fog patches
01:23developing. So as we start Monday morning then actually it's going to be a pretty
01:28murky picture with har and fret across the eastern coast and this band of rain
01:33will gradually sink its way southwards. Generally eases as it gets
01:37into northern parts of England. Behind that blustery showers moving through but
01:42ahead of it across much of England and Wales. A little bit more cloud compared
01:46to recent days with some showery outbreaks of rain across the far south
01:50but there will be some brighter interludes. Here temperatures won't be as
01:54mild as recent days so still up into the double figures 14 possibly 15 degrees
02:00but a contrast in the north temperatures will be falling away so feeling colder
02:05and especially with that brisk wind as well that will just take the edge off
02:09those temperatures. So as we go through Monday evening we hold on to this murky
02:14conditions across the eastern coast. The rain generally fizzling out but a lot of
02:18cloud still across much of England, Wales, Northern Ireland but behind that
02:22we hold on to the clearest skies, blustery showers, temperatures falling
02:26away so a touch of frost in places especially across Scotland as we start
02:31Tuesday. But for all of us that cold wear will eventually reach the south so
02:36all of us it will be feeling colder on Tuesday there'll be some bright spells
02:40and then as we go into Wednesday it's a case of sunny spells and scattered
02:44showers. That's all from me for now though but make sure to hit subscribe
02:48so you don't miss an update and I'll see you soon, bye bye.
