Dry initially for most but outbreaks of rain continuing across the far northwest of Scotland. Showery rain moving into southwest England, Wales and Northern Ireland, heavy in places, with patchier rain for other western areas. Turning rather gloomy for many, with low cloud keeping things mild. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 24/10/24. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Aidan McGivern.

00:00Hi there, Thursday has been a day of contrasts, some decent blue skies in the east whilst
00:06cloud has been steadily increasing in the west, albeit slowly, ahead of this slow moving
00:12weather front and that's the feature that will increasingly bring wet weather to Northern
00:16Ireland, Wales and the south west during the evening and overnight.
00:20It has been damp for the north west of Scotland but with drier weather elsewhere it will be
00:26a notable change into the evening as showery rain moves into the south west as well as
00:31Wales, some longer spells of heavy rain at times here and that wetter weather moves into
00:36Northern Ireland by midnight.
00:38Some bits and pieces of rain across other western parts of the country and increasingly
00:42cloudy, increasingly gloomy in many places as the cloud lowers but that means it's going
00:47to be a mild start to Friday, 11-13 Celsius generally.
00:52Now we start off with those grey skies fairly widely across the country, a contrast for
00:56eastern parts compared with Thursday morning but still some cloud breaks here and there,
01:00particularly to the north east of higher ground and some breaks developing elsewhere, especially
01:05south Wales and the south west as the slow moving weather front straddles central parts
01:10of the country bringing further rain.
01:12Some heavy showers developing especially in the south east and then later some blustery
01:16showers for the south west and south Wales as the wind picks up, that will make it feel
01:20a little cooler compared with Thursday but still temperatures into the teens in most
01:25places.
01:26The clear slot of weather moves northwards as this weakening weather front pushes into
01:32Northern England and then Scotland overnight.
01:35That's going to bring a lot of cloud for Northern Scotland by the end of the night and further
01:39persistent rain for the outer Hebrides but elsewhere clear spells here and there and
01:44some mist and fog patches first thing Saturday, certainly a cooler start or you might say
01:49a colder start for many with temperatures in the mid to high single figures but a bright
01:54start for Wales, Western England, I think we're likely to see some cloud once again
01:59returning to East Anglia in the south east, perhaps some rain for a time during Saturday
02:03but the wettest weather will be for North West Scotland moving into Northern Ireland
02:08during the afternoon making it feel a little less than pleasant.
02:12Then more unsettled weather for North West Scotland on Sunday whilst much of the rest
02:17of the country mostly stays fine until after dark.
02:22We'll have all the latest on our YouTube channel.
02:23Bye bye.
