00:09We're joined by another inspiring story of an optical and eyewear business owner, Isaac Saliedra.
00:17Joining us is Diane Medine-Ilustre. Let's go to Negosya.
00:22I'm so excited to know more about your business. So, can you tell us more about your business story?
00:32The story of our brand is very personal for me.
00:37It started when I was in grade 4, Ms. Diane.
00:40My vision was blurry.
00:42Since my vision was so blurry, I would call my teachers,
00:45and tell them that I'm not good at studying.
00:49But in reality, my vision was blurry.
00:52Glasses are expensive, right?
00:54So, I'm not good at studying.
00:56I always break my glasses.
00:58So, my dad looked for a place to buy frames that are cheaper.
01:02My goal when I was studying, when I wanted to graduate,
01:06I wanted to do business.
01:07So that people like us can experience,
01:12that with an affordable price of 500 pesos, you have a graded eyewear.
01:17And you can see everything clearly that you can experience.
01:22When did this start? How long have you been in the business?
01:25We started online way back in 2014.
01:29I just graduated from PUT.
01:33After I graduated, I worked as a recruitment specialist.
01:36But I felt like that wasn't my calling.
01:39I became a recruitment specialist.
01:41I felt like I needed to bring or make my dream come true.
01:45I wanted to do business.
01:47And now, we have iClinic.
01:49Wow, congratulations.
01:51So, 2014, when you started the business, how much was your capital during that time?
01:56When the business started, if you believe me, it was only 10,000 pesos.
02:0010,000 pesos?
02:01Yes, only 10,000 pesos.
02:02But building this business since 2014, are there any struggles along the way?
02:07When I was 20 years old, I started my business.
02:10I was so skinny.
02:12You're still skinny now, Sir Isaac.
02:14I was so skinny.
02:15And they said that people wouldn't even recognize me.
02:19People wouldn't even set up a meeting with me.
02:21There are still struggles.
02:22Like I mentioned earlier, I'm dyslexic.
02:24Those things put me in a perspective that I need to make it big.
02:28Not because of myself, but because of the vision that I have.
02:31I wanted to prove to them that I can do it.
02:37And luckily, with all of the effort, with all of the people that helped me,
02:41doctors, my employees, my family, we were able to make this big somehow.
02:46In a span of almost 10 years.
02:48We donate glasses to the less fortunate kids.
02:52We want to change their lives.
02:54We also help farmers.
02:57That's our storyline.
02:58We also provide eye supplies to the kids.
03:01What is that one lesson that you would like to share or impart to those people,
03:06like those aspiring entrepreneurs who want to be like you someday?
03:09Maybe you just need to open up your heart.
03:12Because at the end of the day, when people say,
03:14I want to do business, but you won't do it.
03:17Because if you have the motivation that you want to do it, do it.
03:20Because if people just say it, nothing will happen.
03:23Do it.
03:24If you want to do something, do it.
03:26If you think that you can do it, you can do it.
03:30But if you think that you can't do it, you really can't do it.
03:34You should always be positive and think that you can do it.
03:38That's the lesson that the business owner, Isaac Saliendra, showed us.
