00:00Jacobs, Neely, and Sweeney all put out statements after this happened
00:03and the thing that really jumped out to me, well to us, we were talking about it, was
00:07Jacobs really backing Sweeney and Neely as far as the rebuild and going forward
00:13Did you read it the same way?
00:15And are you surprised that Sweeney, based on the season that they're having, is as safe as it may appear?
00:20I'm not surprised for now
00:23because you don't let Don Sweeney have a day like Friday if you're thinking about firing him after the season
00:30If Sweeney's a lame duck GM, the dictate from ownership is
00:36hey, sell off Frederick, sell off Brazzo, and that's it
00:40and we'll save the bigger stuff for the offseason
00:43and in their minds it would be because we're going to have a new GM and we'll let him handle it
00:48So Sweeney is, in my mind, safe through the summer now
00:52He's going to get a chance to start this retool
00:54The big question is, how long does he get?
00:57And what does next season have to look like?
01:00Are the Jacobs expecting next season to be competitive again like Sweeney said they could be?
01:05Is that the expectation?
01:07So then what happens if they start slow and they're trending towards another non-playoff year?
01:12Is he out next year or are they understanding and accepting of something a little longer term?
01:20Is this a two, three year plan?
01:23Well if you had to guess, I'm sorry to jump in, but if you had to guess based on their track record
01:27They're not going to wait two or three years, they want this team back in the playoffs next year, right?
01:31That's generally how it goes with the Jacobs, yeah
01:33Usually if you miss the playoffs once or twice, you're out as GM
01:36So we'll see, maybe they're in some new spot
01:40Maybe they believe in Cam Neely enough that they take his word on
01:44you know, hey, Don's the right guy for this
01:46But generally they have not exhibited any patience at all for prolonged retools or rebuilds
