01:10You know, I largely I'm glad that they're sitting out a day where
01:16Contracts that are being handed out to me look too high. They just don't look like smart moves
01:22But then the view from 10,000 feet I can agree with you a little bit and say well like it's not great
01:29it's not great that you're just kind of like sitting there with holes getting created on your roster and
01:35And not knowing exactly
01:37Who you're going to fill them with because I you know, I don't know about you
01:41I think the question that pops into a Niner fan head is
01:47Are you rebuilding and we just don't know it?

02:57We're going to get younger. These are all trigger phrases that mean the same thing
03:03And I don't want to hear it
03:04it basically means that we're not that sold out to go out there and win and I do think that you can
03:11Do a couple of things and still be competitive, especially in the National Football League
03:16But I can't help to think a couple of different things one
03:20They have done poorly in some contracts of late and they do have a lot of dead money
03:25They've got about 50 million dollars against the cap for players who will not play football for them. That's bad business
03:32and the other piece is
03:34The report that the Niners are exploring selling a 10% stake in the team
03:39Which the valuation is at 9 billion, which means if you've got 900 million
03:44You too can be a York you can own part of the 49ers if you've got 900 million
03:50so I don't think that the York family is
03:53Hard up and short on money
03:55But it is interesting that you're gonna sell off a 10% stake and you're now
04:02Not really out there spending a lot of money in free agency, even though you do have some cap room
04:07It just it strikes me as a little bit odd and all of this for me
04:11Mark is set against the reality of your upcoming schedule next year, which is not a very difficult schedule now
04:18We don't know the order of opponents, but you are playing a last-place schedule
04:23So you might be able to save some money shed some salaries and still be competitive
04:30Against some of the teams that you're going to be facing
04:33Yeah, it doesn't mean that anyone's a pushover
04:35But you do have you got the Giants and they don't look to be world beaters
04:39no, you know the Bears who are getting better quietly day after day, but
04:45Saving grace could be that could be saving grace could be that
04:48You know, maybe they do maybe they have enough to win most of these games and win the division anyway
04:53I mean the Seahawks
04:55Just got rid of two of their biggest names

05:06So they're rebooting the Cardinals don't ever really scare me the Rams look fun, but I don't know exactly how that's gonna play out
05:13They've got a good quarterback and good wide receivers outside of that
05:16That's a really young defense that wasn't very impressive last year got a little bit better in the end
05:22Okay, not a terribly difficult division not a very difficult schedule at all
05:28But I'm sorry, dude, I don't want to go into a season yelling about that
05:33Like yeah, we got an easy schedule and easy division that makes you the Bucs
05:42You're not gonna win anything that matters
05:45Like I want to know how you gonna beat the Lions and the Eagles and the commanders

09:33And a discussion point. I don't think the Niners have lost anybody today. Who are they like that guy played really well last year

10:12Greenlaw Elijah Mitchell was great last year not this year, but the year before this year. He was hurt the whole year
10:17He was great. He was our B2. He was very a very solid contributor

10:34But yeah that one that one doesn't sting either again just for conversation sake without knowing who's replacing these players

14:25Well, how would you feel about today if Joey Bosa had signed with the 49ers, I would feel a little bit better
14:31I'm not that enamored with the idea of Joey Bosa a guy who's missed half of his games over the last three years
14:38He is a declining off injured player
14:41So the idea of two Bosa's and you know
14:45Maybe having a weekly conversation with his mom who's a good interview
14:48That sounds fun to me and the whole Bosa brothers and like the new bash brothers
14:54You know that whole part of it would be fun, but from a pure football standpoint
14:59I don't think that that's where I'd want to spend my money and he's gonna be I don't know how much he's gonna get probably
15:06More than Drake Greenlaw just got who got what 35 million over three years feels to me like Joey Bosa is gonna be
15:1315 million a year or more for who knows how long how many years?
15:17Yeah, he's coming up on being 30 and he's just hurt all the time
15:21If you're gonna sign Bosa that better be a lot of incentives for everything that you just said

16:09They're not buying them out there for full level of snaps if they're not starting them
16:12It means he's either partially hurt or they only saw him as a rotational piece

16:19Well, that's what the way the 49ers use Nick Bosa. He only plays about 75% of the snaps
16:24He's not a guy who plays every snap on defense. It's not the way they approach it here

17:35Today feels like is an extension of what my first reaction was when John Lynch spoke at the combine

17:44but when I listen to him talk and he was talking about getting younger and
17:50He was talking about certain players and he was talking about at a certain point the financial part of it
17:55Starts to kind of take shape the whole vibe of the thing
18:00Was the Niners brass is taking their team back and I really feel like they felt
18:06like they had lost control of
18:09The power in recent years they got beat on the Bosa deal
18:13They get beat on the IUC deal and you know what?
18:16I mean by getting and then and and obviously Trent Williams goes into a holdout
18:21Christian McCaffrey the second he acts
18:23They they blink and give him more money and then everybody shows up one day kind of old and hurt and
18:30underperforming and so, you know, whether this is a good thing or a bad thing or somewhere in between
18:36The brass walked in this year and went dude. We're in charge
18:41We're in charge. We're not handing out. Thank you contracts
18:44And if we see an offer to another team that looks out of whack
18:50We're gonna we're not gonna blink

18:54I could look that that takes some courage, I guess

19:25Whatever you try and do in the draft and free agency if it doesn't work, then you were wrong
19:31And that's just the way it goes. It's a results business like the team last year. Should they have been better than six and eleven?
19:38Absolutely, but you had three games that you blew that would have made you nine and eight and there was other games that you probably
19:44Could have got it out and that's the way football goes
19:47It's a razor's edge of winning and losing and if you wind up with a team
19:52that's just not good enough and you're paying Brandon Iuke 30 million a year and he's coming off of a
19:58double knee injury two ligaments torn in his knee and he may not be available at the start of the year and you go forward
20:04With just Jacob Cowling and Ricky Pearsall if that's not good enough
20:08Then yeah
20:09you lose and I'll look back on these days where you had more exits than entrances and
20:15Remember that this was a time where your roster just didn't get better. Yeah. Well and again, I
20:20Early, yeah, the Niners are not gonna forget to sign people
20:23I I look at it simply from the the standpoint of like do you want the player back and
20:30Part of that is based on what we know and and and we've watched and then part of that is based on
20:35The reporting that we we stay so close to and I I know that the 49ers wanted Drake Greenlaw back
20:41And and they didn't get him. I don't think that they really had a
20:45Too much interest in keeping any of the other players and I also know they're not like morons
20:52So it's not like they woke up today and didn't know that today was today. It's not like they don't have a plan
20:59in terms of who they're going to put into these positions, so

21:08but it has me thinking more and more about last year being a
21:12Super Bowl or bust year and now we're starting to see the bust where you're busting this up and you had
21:19Six or seven guys leave today and you're right if you look at the list of players who are leaving none of them had
21:25absolutely stellar years and if they're
21:28Making more money than what they're worth or if their contract offers out there or more than what you want to pay
21:33You move on and I look at Jayvon Hargrave and you look back on that deal and that was a bad deal and the Debo
21:40Restructure was a bad deal and the Brandon IU contract was a bad deal and Trent Williams
21:46We're gonna see that may end up being a bad deal as well and Christian McCaffrey when you restructured him
21:52That might be a bad deal to a guy who's got bilateral Achilles tendonitis
21:57He was unable to play even a maybe a quarter of the season last year before sustaining a different injury
22:04So all these players that you were trying to make happy and restructure and give them, you know
22:10Fresh money to make their deals solid for them. They're looking like bad deals
