00:00This is gonna sound really silly, but we have been talking so much about cat cafes recently with businesses and hobbies coming out.
00:06All I've had on my mind is cat stuff with the pack.
00:10I didn't even think about dogs and using the pack to make some sort of dog business.
00:15It's like I almost forgot that dogs even exist in The Sims.
00:18I have already built a cat cafe with the pack, but I did it on stream, so I don't know if I've posted it on YouTube yet by the time you see this.
00:25The build will make its way here to my main channel, it just might take me a little bit because I've got kind of a backlog of things that I've been playing with the pack.
00:32I'll link my Twitch stream down below, though, and I'll also link my second channel because I post all of my streams there, too.
00:37So you can watch like the full three-hour thing of me building the cat cafe.
00:41But today, I want to build a doggy daycare.
00:44I feel like the cat cafe is more focused on your sims coming there, buying a drink, playing with the cats.
00:49The doggy daycare, I'm picturing your sims will come here and drop their dogs off and then you'll take care of them.
00:56Sort of the equivalent of the daycare daycare that I made, but this one is for dogs.
01:01So I've set up some lot activities.
01:02The first one is pets playing and learning, so it means they'll use the pet obstacle course and the toys.
01:07The play with pets one means that the human sims will socialize with the animals.
01:12And then caring for animals means that other sims will come here and take care of them.
01:16I'm not super sure about that as an option because I feel like with this business, you kind of want us to be the ones playing with the dogs
01:25and not so much the customers, the human customers, to be doing it.
01:29So we'll have to kind of test and see what happens with that.
01:32I kind of just figured that I should put any of the pet-related things on there.
01:36I also set up our target customer to be dogs.
01:39I didn't make them required to be dogs, I just made it preferred.
01:43So we'll have to test that and see how it goes, too.
01:46I think we could also add dog hangout, though, which means that stray dogs will hang out on this lot.
01:51So we'll have at least a few bonus dogs around.
01:54And I'm building this in Brindleton Bay, we're right next door to where the vet usually is.
01:58Oh, and I even made a sim to run the business.
01:59She's obviously a dog lover, she's got kind of like a whole dog outfit on with the sweater and the poodle skirt.
02:04And as far as the actual business goes...
02:07Oh, I don't like the lighting on this lot at all.
02:10It's fine, we'll figure it out.
02:11I'm thinking that for the business, we'll want to have some sort of like front entrance place.
02:17This could maybe be like a waiting room, we'll have a check-in desk, the ticket kiosk, like that kind of stuff can go in here.
02:24We can also attach a human bathroom to that section.
02:27We could maybe also have a kitchen.
02:30And this could be good as an employees-only area because we can like make food, make pet treats, kind of have a break room.
02:35And then in the back, I want to have a lot of space for the dogs.
02:39I might even need to make it a little bit bigger than this.
02:42We'll see how it goes.
02:43But I was picturing there could be a big indoor grassy section because it rains a lot in Brindleton Bay.
02:49So I will put play stuff for the dogs outside too, but I'm worried that there's not going to be enough pleasant weather for you to only want to be outside.
02:57So I want to have a bunch of indoor space that almost looks outdoor.
03:00And then I kind of wanted to do almost like a fake kennel sort of situation.
03:06I don't really know how it's going to work in-game, but I was kind of picturing us having a couple little rooms and we could put like a dog bed and a dog bowl and some toys in there.
03:15And this can be a place where the dogs could board like overnight.
03:18They don't actually do that in-game, but we can pretend.
03:21So that's kind of the shape that I was thinking for this.
03:24I was actually kind of planning on making this almost like a baseline and then bulldozing and redoing it, but we might not even have to bulldoze and redo it.
03:32Like this might be kind of okay the way that it is.
03:34Maybe we could get some sort of bigger space back here.
03:38That could be good because there could be like a separate indoor play section or like maybe a place with some seats or something for the humans.
03:45I don't know if you can tell, but I don't really know what I'm doing right now, so there's gonna be some trial and error with this for sure.
03:51Oh, maybe we could kind of tuck away a little section back here and we could have a dumpster over there or something because that could be nice too.
03:57And then we have this big yard that we can put training stuff in.
04:00Oh, and maybe the front door is like on the side.
04:02That could be kind of cute.
04:03I didn't really think about how I would have a house on this.
04:08I wanted to have the sim live here.
04:09You know, in hindsight, I'm wondering if maybe I should have thought this through a little bit more because I didn't plan for this at all.
04:15Well, let me see how I want to do the roof and then maybe we can figure out the upstairs from that.
04:20I think I might raise it up on a foundation too.
04:23I guess we'll have to see if that looks terrible once we start.
04:26Maybe everything is just really wide and we want to shrink it all a little bit more.
04:30I think that'll probably help with our upstairs situation and just being a little bit smaller.
04:34I'm feeling like maybe the upstairs could be on just half, but then I'm probably going to want to redo how this is.
04:41I don't know.
04:42If we do it this way, where does the staircase go for them to get upstairs into the apartment?
04:47Maybe it could be more central like this.
04:49We could also potentially have an outdoor staircase and maybe like a big balcony back here or something.
04:55Okay, see, maybe an opportunity to use the privacy hedge that I had been using before.
05:00This is really hard.
05:01I'm actually really struggling with this.
05:03This has quickly become like the most absurd staircase situation physically possible.
05:08Just, you know what?
05:09Give me time.
05:10It's gonna be fine.
05:11We're totally gonna make this work and it's gonna be great.

05:14Okay, so we have a little bit more patio space now.
05:16This is like the back section.
05:18This is for humans.
05:18All this is for the dogs.
05:20This gives me a little bit of a better place to hide the trash cans too because I have all of this now.
05:24And it just keeps getting smaller and smaller the more I do it.
05:29This is fine.
05:30It's still the same.
05:31It's just laid out a little bit differently.
05:33And then up here, this will become the apartment.
05:35And I guess we could potentially have like multiple bedrooms.
05:38There could be a whole family living up there.
05:39All right, what do we think about this?
05:42I don't really know to be honest.
05:44I'm gonna try to have a pretty heavy focus on cats and dogs stuff.
05:48Oh, that's right.
05:48I was gonna have the staircase go over here, wasn't I?
05:51Well, that sort of changes up how this is gonna look, doesn't it?
05:54Okay, this isn't the door that I'm gonna use,
05:56but I like this because I feel like we can get a nice door from this part to get outside.
06:00And then there can also be a door from this hallway section to get outside.
06:03And you know what we could even potentially do?
06:05I don't know if this is weird,
06:06but maybe we could have like a smaller dog run for the dogs that are boarding to like come out and use the bathroom.
06:13And then this part will be where we have all the dog training stuff in the bigger area.
06:17Of course, the dogs that are boarding would be allowed to use that too,
06:19but like I'm just thinking in the middle of the night,
06:22maybe it's nicer to have a separate section.
06:24Okay, I tried putting a roof on top of this.
06:26I kind of feel like it's not very cute.
06:28So for that reason, I want to have a little bit less, but I don't know.
06:31I love that we have this much residential space.
06:34I really like having a big residential balcony too because there's no yard for humans on this place.
06:41Everything's gonna belong to the dogs.
06:43All right, let's get started with some little roof detailing.
06:46I'm thinking I want to have something like this.
06:49I really like the little scallop detail
06:51and I regret to inform you that this is almost certainly going to become a blue suburban.
06:56We haven't really started yet.
06:57I know we're not like super deep into this, but yeah, it's gonna be kind of blue suburban-y.
07:01But hey, this is my first blue suburban with a new pack.
07:04So it's not like I'm overdoing it. It's fine.
07:06I'm gonna use that lovely little door right there and I think I'll do the same thing up here.
07:11Maybe I want to have this be flat. Maybe just like a little tiny platform thing.
07:15Oh, you know what? It was weird before when it was super big.
07:20I felt like it was too much when it was like an angled roof piece, but that's okay.
07:24I think that works. Yeah, this looks kind of bad.
07:26Those windows are not the cutest.
07:28I just want to have some nice windows for the dogs.
07:30There are some even bigger ones.
07:32I don't normally pick those like I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've used those windows,
07:36but that might be nice for them.
07:38I actually don't really know what a dog kennel like this would normally look like.
07:42I have three cats.
07:43I don't know what goes on at this kind of place.
07:46I'm gonna put a glass door into them.
07:47We'll also get our lovely little flooring everywhere.
07:51I think I'm gonna use that yellow color.
07:52Okay, so this is like the little check-in desk.
07:54I'm gonna put the ticket kiosk in here too
07:57because this is what you actually need for it to be functional in The Sims.
08:00So I'll just put that over here by the side.
08:02Do we put like a picket fence inside too?
08:05This one's a little tall is the only problem.
08:08Oh, maybe I could just use the cats and dogs fence.
08:10Oh, that works for the interior.
08:12I kind of like it.
08:13Although I will say the fence gate is like maybe a little bit excessive for the inside,
08:17but it's okay.
08:18We can just we can just pretend.
08:20Oh, I loved that kiosk where I had it,
08:22but maybe I can put it here
08:24because I kind of want to extend this out.
08:25I want to have like a little employee door.
08:27I think I might do the same door but frost it.
08:30Oh, maybe I could frost all of them.
08:32I don't know, just as an idea.
08:33That's a fun little cork board.
08:34Maybe we talk about events that are happening at the building.
08:36Okay, and then this is that employee break room, employee kitchen place.
08:42I kind of feel like we don't want to have a stove, right?

08:47Keep it a little bit more simple inside of this room.
08:50Oh, wait a minute.
08:50No, no, no, we can put the fridge over there.
08:53We should do a stove.
08:54This thing, you can't really use this.
08:57Like, most of this stuff is for your surgery station,
09:01so you would think that you could craft vet treats,
09:03but it's not really the most necessary thing.
09:06But you know what?
09:07Maybe we just put it anyway for the vibes.
09:09It makes way more sense to have that than to have a stove in here.
09:12Like, we don't really need to have a stove inside of this.
09:14Little tiny employee break room.
09:16I swapped the doors out.
09:17I'm gonna use this as the bathroom door,
09:19and I'll use that for the break room
09:20because then they can have like, a little sign above it.
09:22Speaking of signs, oh my gosh, this is what I was wondering.
09:25I didn't know if the signs from Cats and Dogs would work,
09:27but those little decals from Cats and Dogs do fit on here.
09:31I think I might just put the same sign like, three times though
09:33because I kind of like the repeating little heart.
09:36And I'll put the same thing on the side there
09:38because this way if you're coming up this way, you can see it.
09:40I will get a wall mailbox in here for our sim who lives here.
09:45And I've been very distracted, so I have not finished the windows.
09:48I was thinking we need to have a dog door
09:50because look, the dogs can come outside straight from here
09:53to get into this part.
09:54They can kind of come and go freely.
09:55Should we have like, a big line of windows along the back like that?
09:58I think so.
09:59Maybe we do the same thing on this wall too.
10:01It's a little bit excessive, but ooh.
10:04Hey, the back of this is kind of ugly.
10:06This building is a little bit weird.
10:08The more I look at the outside, I'm like, eugh.
10:12I don't like it.
10:13The inside's cool.
10:14Oh no, that's a problem.

10:16Okay, are there any other gates that are good for this, but don't-
10:20Oh, you know what we could totally do?
10:21I do really like this fence, but I forgot that there's a businesses and hobbies one.
10:26This totally has Little Picket Fence vibes, and we could use that.
10:29Unfortunately, I'm kind of looking for a slightly cooler fence gate.
10:33I just want to have something wider.
10:35Never mind.
10:36I'll just put two of them, it's fine.
10:38Okay, I'm thinking I'll use the businesses and hobbies concrete in this section.
10:42Oh, I would love to use this flooring, but I don't think it's gonna work for me.
10:46I think maybe we stick to a real brick for all of these parts.
10:49I'm painting the building with a light blue,
10:52really kind of embracing that whole blue suburban thing.
10:55Okay, things are starting to look better.
10:57Now that there's more going on outside, it's starting to make some more sense.
11:00I'm gonna do the landscaping and everything last though.
11:02I want to finish more of the interior.
11:04Okay, so I'm starting to lay out some of the furniture inside of this little front entrance area.
11:09I put some things from Get to Work, like file cabinets.
11:11I put the phone on the wall because I'm kind of pretending we might get phone calls.
11:15I'll put that little decal by the front door on this desk.
11:18Look, we have a little nameplate.
11:20I could get a pencil cup and maybe like another file.
11:22Oh, these are the files from university.
11:24Those are kind of fun.
11:25That's a legal case file.
11:27That's more than just like a little file from Get to Work.
11:30Thankfully, there's so much pet stuff,
11:32like these little dog posters that we can hang up from Cats and Dogs.
11:35And then the last thing, there's like little dog treats.
11:38Maybe I should do that instead of the file because you don't want to put too much on this.
11:42And it's cute to have them on the end.
11:44Okay, I think we should do that.
11:45I kind of like the idea of a little tile accent wall.
11:48Isn't that cute?
11:49Alright, so here's where they'll check in.
11:50You can walk up to the front desk and like check in,
11:53but in reality, your sims will come right here and they'll use the ticket kiosk.
11:56Our employees will have access to this space,
11:59so they can cook themselves like a salad if they want to using the fridge.
12:02We can make some pet treats.
12:04We can sit down and eat.
12:05Everyone will have access to this bathroom.
12:08This is maybe slightly abnormal,
12:10but I'm going to put a tub in here
12:11because I want to be able to bathe the dogs if they get really dirty.
12:15The humans can use this toilet if they need one.
12:17So we've got space for them too.
12:18Okay, I was kind of thinking that I might do a different cute tile color for each of the dog kennels
12:23and then we'll put a dog bed and a food bowl inside each of them.
12:27Oh my, that one's a little bit much.
12:29Oh, we can do that. Okay, that works.
12:30I really like how they're kind of on a theme,
12:32like everything in there is the same color.
12:34I'm gonna hang up some leashes right here.
12:37I'm trying to decide what else I want to put in these spaces.
12:41I feel like it might be kind of cute to get some sized up wall decals
12:45because these are pretty simple.
12:47I don't really know if I like how they look on the tile,
12:49but I also don't really know if we should be hanging up like art.
12:52I also feel like blinds are probably not a good idea
12:56because that would probably get dirty,
12:57but let's put a toy or two inside every single one of these.
13:00I tried to place them in different areas too,
13:02so it looks like somebody was actually playing with them,
13:04so they got moved around.
13:05We can do toy boxes in some of these play areas.
13:07And you know what? In hindsight, I should have given this Sim a dog.
13:10How am I supposed to play test this without a dog?
13:13Let's just add whatever dog.
13:14Oh, look how cute that one is!
13:16Okay, this is Heidi.
13:18She's aggressive. That's fine.
13:20I love her. Okay, perfect.
13:22I was gonna say we could just randomize a dog,
13:23but the one I gave us by default is really cute.
13:26I was gonna use that so we could play test how all this works,
13:28but I'll do it in a second.
13:29I want to add a little bit more in this area.
13:31I'm not sure if these lockers actually make that much sense,
13:35but I think that I'm kind of pretending that maybe
13:37that's like stuff that belongs to the dogs.
13:40Like maybe the parents left their medicine or like the dog's favorite toy,
13:43and so they can put it away and keep it safe
13:45until the dog is back inside of their little house.
13:48Oh, I wish this came in one more color.
13:50I'm so frustrated that it only comes in three.
13:53Oh, this one has four swatches.
13:55Maybe we could do that just so we have like something on the walls.
13:58Alright, so that's that half of the building.
14:00Let's start thinking about this one.
14:01This is the more exciting half of the building, I must say.
14:03This is where the gameplay is gonna get fun.
14:05I think I'll use that funky tile as an accent color again.
14:08We can get some fun little dog posters.
14:11This plant will be kind of cute just on the wall.
14:14Okay, I was looking up some pictures of real life doggy daycare type places,
14:19and one of the pictures that I looked at,
14:22they had some tables inside of it.
14:24I sort of like that as a concept
14:26because I kind of want to pretend that maybe the families can come and watch
14:31if the dogs are having a class.
14:32Oh my god, I didn't even think about that.
14:35We should put a board.
14:36We should totally have one of the doggy whiteboards.
14:38I wonder if I could put this whiteboard this way
14:41because that includes this whole space.
14:43I gotta cheat this sim's skill.

14:46I also have to open the business so we can test this.
14:49We need to have somebody check in so that you can host a class.

15:50I've been really putting off this next part because it scares me,

15:55and then we're gonna try and set up the pet training course.
15:57The reason- oh my god, it's a lot smaller in here than I thought.
16:00The reason I've been putting it off is that you have to do it very carefully
16:05for it to be appropriately functional and that kind of scares me.
16:08You can't change the color of these.
16:10Can I come command Heidi to use it?
16:12Hobby class unsuccessful.
16:14The class was canceled because nobody joined.
16:16Sorry, that's really sad.

16:31and that is actually best case scenario to me

16:36I kind of want this to look just like a place that you can play in.
16:39And so if you can do these one at a time,
16:41that's good and then outside can be more like a proper obstacle course.
16:45So these are just ones that you can practice on individually
16:48and then once we move outside, we can kind of make a full-on obstacle course.

16:59If you were playing on this lot,
17:00you'd have to be like super vigilant about filling all of them
17:03because they actually do run out pretty quick.

17:10I don't know if it looks weird,
17:11but I think it's nice to have a bunch of them
17:14and I think that could be the whole inside of the doggy daycare done.

17:18This is where we have to turn off, move objects again,

17:22I want to make a full-on obstacle course for this.

18:16so I won't change that now just because it's kind of weird that they go in and out.
18:19I guess if you were playing here and that was bothering you,
18:22it is kind of weird that they go in to work on the obstacle course too,
18:25but I guess you can just delete some of the stuff or something.
18:28Okay, I'm just putting a couple of extra little dog toys outside over here.
18:31I think I'm also gonna do a couple more pet bowls on the staircase.
18:36We can put some dog-related doormats if we want to.
18:39Look at all the dogs coming and going.
18:40Okay, here's a question.
18:42Do we want to try to make a little pathway?
18:44We would do this using some of the paw print items.
18:47I guess it's just partially a way to mark down the direction
18:50that we're expecting the sims to go in when they do the obstacle course.
18:53It's kind of unnecessary.
18:55I feel like maybe I shouldn't do it.
18:57Ooh, I think I might stick that little newspaper in the corner just for fun.
19:01I think I prefer the little paw-shaped mat instead of this one.
19:05Like, to me that's just cuter.
19:07Okay, there's some stuff that we really need to go through and do.
19:09Like, we don't have any lights outside.
19:11I'm wondering if I could put a couple of vending machines over here.
19:14There actually is a pet vending machine,
19:16but you have to stock it with the vet treat stuff.
19:18And I don't think that it would really work for this,
19:21but maybe we could put the human ones.
19:22Just because if you did come here,
19:24I'm trying to think about this being useful for you as both the owner and as a customer.
19:29And if you came here as a customer,
19:30it would be nice that you could buy some food for yourself.
19:33Especially if you wanted to, like, spend some time watching the dog do their class
19:36or, like, whatever it might be.
19:38Okay, I got some really cute little flowers out there.
19:41I'm gonna put these by the front door, too.
19:43I might even do the same, like, two of them in different sizes thing.
19:47Okay, I did put a little sign in the back.
19:49I feel like it just helps it's not so flat right there.
19:51I'm gonna do the terrain paint last.

20:55Because now we finished the entire public space,
20:57so we can start working on the apartment.
20:58I'm trying to do something to, like, match the windows that we have downstairs.

21:03Also, this is, like, so classic Sims-y, but I'm gonna give them a chess table.
21:07Okay, so here's the layout that I was thinking for the apartment up here.
21:11I thought the kitchen could go in this little nook.
21:14We'd have a bathroom, two bedrooms.
21:16Let me just get these doors real quick so I can visualize it a bit more.
21:19And then I thought maybe this could be, like, a storage room of some kind.
21:23This is the functional water heater from For Rent.
21:26I thought maybe I'd put that and, like, the electrical fuse box,
21:29just so you've got another thing for your sims to worry about.
21:32This place is already really expensive,
21:34so I'm gonna kind of try to use some slightly cheaper furniture in the apartment, too.
21:38I did just say I was gonna try to use cheap stuff,
21:40and now here I am with a really expensive TV.
21:43But this is sort of what I'm thinking as the furniture layout for the apartment.
21:46I feel like it's kind of hard to visualize what I'm saying
21:48when I try to describe it before I've actually put any furniture in.
21:51Because I could sit here and tell you all day,
21:52okay, the kitchen's gonna go back here,
21:54but you can't really picture, like, what it's gonna look like once there's stuff in it
21:57until there actually is stuff in it.
21:59So hopefully it's starting to make a little bit more sense now.
22:02I am gonna get us a little dog bed.
22:03Well, I guess a big dog bed.
22:05I'll put a big dog bed over there.
22:07It's being a little bit laggy as I'm painting the walls,
22:09which is kind of weirding me out, I'm not gonna lie.
22:12I'm scared of this game.
22:13I'm adding some pet toys up here, too,
22:15as if the dog doesn't already have enough stuff on this lot that it can use to play with.
22:20But I'm putting some things in the apartment as well.
22:22Alright, I'm not super sure what I'm going for in here.
22:24I have kind of a mix of furniture styles in this room.
22:27That could be a bad thing or a good thing.
22:30I was kind of trying to make it seem, like, cool and maybe, like, we've thrifted some furniture,
22:34but I'm not sure if it's ugly.
22:36And then in this bedroom, I think I'm gonna put two beds,
22:39and I'll just use the cheapest kid's furniture.
22:41Here I am, waiting until the absolute last room that I'm furnishing
22:44to finally start caring about a budget, but I think it's fine like this.
22:48I'm gonna save my game and then go through now and finish the terrain paint,
22:51and then it'll be done.
22:52I always do the terrain paint last because I don't trust The Sims 4.
22:56I have been burned so many times by terrain paint glitches
22:59that I just refuse to even bother now until I'm ready to be finished.
23:03Okay, I'm trying to put some, like, darker terrain paint directly underneath these.
23:09And then I figured I would take something a little bit lighter
23:12and maybe kind of make a path that looks like they've been running in this circle.
23:17How does that look?
23:17Ooh, not good.
23:19It looks not good is what it looks like.
23:21Maybe we can try to extend out those little dots that I made.
23:24This kind of, like, blends it, I guess, into the other color.
23:26Maybe then we get some kind of big other dirt and just put it around.
23:30Oh no, it looks horrible.

23:33Okay, I'm going through with big terrain paint brush.
23:36I'm just gonna paint in a circle like this.
23:40Kind of gets us a wider circle going on.
23:42And then I think I'll go through and make it a little bit darker
23:46around the exact edges of this stuff.
23:49I'm not sure.
23:50I feel like it looks kind of ugly.
23:51Well, the rest of the terrain paint looks okay,
23:53and we know what we were going for, right?
23:55I'm gonna stick this on the gallery.
23:57I'm not sure if I should upload it as a small business or as a residential.
24:01I don't know what, like, the community norm is gonna become
24:05because the pack actually isn't out yet when I'm recording this,
24:07so it's gonna be posted a long time after the pack comes out,
24:10but I'm recording this on the 5th.

24:14and maybe I'll just put enough hashtags so it's easy to find.
