00:00Imola was born the first Italian plant for the regeneration of carbon fiber composites on an industrial scale.
00:13It is called Fiber and is made by ERA Ambiente, controlled by the ERA Group and the first Italian operator in the recovery and treatment of waste.
00:23The goal of Fiber is to reach more than 100 plants owned by the ERA Group, investing more and more in the circular economy.
00:32This is a solution for the Italian industry because it unites competitiveness with environmental sustainability.
00:42Fiber is concrete, pragmatic, promotes short and circular lines, thus reducing the strong dependence on foreign import of carbon fiber.
00:52This plant is able to regenerate carbon fiber, thus obtaining a recycled carbon fiber that has the same characteristics as a virgin carbon fiber.
01:04Thanks to the assets of ERA Ambiente and the know-how developed in the laboratories of the Leonardo Group, carbon fiber will be recycled with positive drawbacks in terms of sustainability and circularity.
01:26ERA Ambiente has given us the opportunity to combine our waste, i.e. materials composed of carbon fiber that residue from the processing process of some aerostructures,
01:38into materials that can be reused and commercialized for other processes, virtually closing a circular process of production and processing with great advantages,
01:53especially from the economic point of view, but also from the environmental impact and the possibility of the supply of raw materials, even critical ones,
02:02because this process could be reused and applied to other raw materials of our process such as Leonardo, such as aluminum and titanium.
02:11Among the industrial sectors interested in this excellence, from aerospace to nautical engineering, from the grid to textile and fashion, the automotive sector is also involved.
02:22I think this is part of a social responsibility, not only entrepreneurial, because we think that most of these materials come from Japan,
02:35with ships that consume one and a half million liters of fuel per month, so the fact of recycling, remaining in areas where they can be gradually reused,
02:53I think it is precisely the seat that was missing, after 40 years the seat that was missing.
