Trump is going after Thomas Massie but he could have put him as Secretary of Agriculture and it would have been a win win.

00:00What do you think about Trump's pick of Brooke Rollins as Secretary of the USDA?
00:06Without, you know, probably the politically correct answer when I'm
00:13hoping that Trump's going to help us in our situation. Well, the Biden
00:16administration would be that it was a good pick. But, you know, I'd be lying
00:20if I said I wasn't skeptical over it. And Brooke Rollins is probably a
00:26fantastic person. I don't know of anything personal related to her. I have
00:31no issues with her. I, you know, when I see somebody like Thomas Massey, as a
00:36contrast there, Thomas Massey is another person that I would put in that kind of
00:41same mold as a Nicole Shanahan, who money don't mean anything.
00:45And he's looking more like a founding father every day.
00:48It's, you know, I find myself checking if I'm on the fence, I'm something I
00:54want to see what he says about it. He is, you could say a lot of things about
00:58Thomas Massey, but he is not a sellout. You know, he is not beholden to anyone,
01:06but what he truly believes. And the rarity of that up there is, you know,
01:12he's probably a one of one when it comes to that. But, you know, with with Brooke,
01:19my concern with her and my concern with her is the same as it would be with a
01:24Sonny Perdue or a Tom Vilsack is to the extent she has relationships, it's with
01:30entities that are not that do not have the family farms interest at heart. I did
01:36the calculation on it, and I think we're about 17 years away from the last family
01:41farm being here. We'll hang the last foreclosure sign in about 17 years if we
01:46keep going at this same pace. And, you know, that's why I was hoping, and I know
01:51so many were, including Nicole Shanahan, that we would have someone like Thomas
01:57Massey. And, you know, I've never mentioned this on my page, but so it's an
02:03exclusive for me. But I was asked to be a part of that team. And Joel Salton was
02:13asked to be a part of that team. And a lot of the what I would say are the most
02:18innovative minds and agriculture, particularly USDA, has gotten the
02:23position to where status quo won't get it. You have to come in and have radical
02:29transparency, if nothing else. You know, again, nothing against Brooke Rollins
02:35from a personal standpoint. I just have not heard anything from her that is
02:40creative. And she's close with Farm Bureau, close with Sonny Perdue. And I
02:45feel like agriculture in this administration may have been a bit of a
02:48sacrificial lamb.
02:50I just don't understand. It would have actually helped Trump if he appointed or
02:56nominated Thomas Massey as Secretary of Agriculture because, honestly, Massey's
03:03kind of a pain in his ass in the House. So he actually would have been helping
03:06the House because they would have just put another Republican that just is a
03:10yes man in his spot. And, you know, then the House would have another reliable
03:16yes vote because they're in very slim margins right now. So you think it would
03:22have actually helped because, like I said, you would get him out of the House
03:26and he would be a rock star for farmers. And then, you know, that's another thing
03:30that Trump could take credit for that he saved the farm, you know.
03:35If anybody could do it, Thomas Massey could.
