00:00If your PC is performing slower than expected, you may have downloaded some malware.
00:05We had a customer just go through this and from looking online this is actually becoming a little
00:10more common. Open up task manager and if you see your CPU and GPU utilization high when your PC's
00:15not actually doing anything, look out for the process called altruistic service and remember
00:20you can hold the control key to pause this list from moving. This is in fact malware and basically
00:26hackers are stealing your CPU and GPU processing power. This allows them to leverage that power for
00:32crypto mining or anything else like that. This malware appears to come as a trojan meaning that
00:37you thought you were downloading something legit but underneath the hood of that email attachment
00:41or .exe file it installed this service and now you can't remove it. This is why I also recommend
00:47scanning everything you run through virus total beforehand and apparently windows does not do a
00:52good job uninstalling this through the operating system. So the highest recommended option is to
00:57use revo uninstaller to get it out of there. Personally if I think a computer has malware
01:01on it I'm going to completely wipe that drive and reinstall windows from scratch
01:06and we have videos on how to do that if you need some extra help.
