WATCH: Chifley Police District Superintendent Darren Beeche addresses media on March 13, 2025 to provide an update on dirt bikes seized in Bathurst, Lithgow and Cowra.
Transcript
00:00We've got 21 unregistered motorbikes behind me that's a part of the collection that we've
00:08obtained over the last couple of months. These are all motorbikes that have been riding around
00:14Bathurst, Chifley and Liftco whilst unregistered. In the last couple of months
00:22we've approached this problem in a different way. We've been finding out where the bikes
00:29have been housed and finding a lawful reason to go in and seize those bikes and put them
00:34before the court for seizure. Over the last couple of years we've had a real problem
00:40in the Chifley Police District in Bathurst, Liftco and Cowra with unregistered motorbikes
00:48being ridden around with complete disregard to the law, to community safety, their peace,
00:57their well-being and putting the riders in danger. We've found these people,
01:08many of them are well entrenched in criminality, they're not just kids looking for something to do
01:16and we've taken a different stance. So we're finding out where they are and we're finding
01:23legal reasons to go in and seize them as you see behind me. We've had half a dozen of them already
01:32forfeited by the court so they'll be sold at auction.
