00:00Some major breaking news here.
00:01For the first time ever, going back to 2017, a full majority of Americans disapprove of
00:07Trump on the economy.
00:08According to CNN's polling, 56% of Americans now disapprove of his handling of the US economy,
00:14not only the first time that a majority of Americans have taken this position, but with
00:1856% it is a healthy margin of Americans who've taken this position.
00:23The closest Trump's ever gotten to these numbers before was 49% disapproval in December
00:28of 2020, and even that was 7 points stronger than where he is right now.
00:33The reality is that Trump's biggest asset, despite his raft of liabilities, has been
00:37how Americans perceive him on the economy.
00:40That issue, almost unilaterally, has given him wide latitude to be able to operate with
00:45impunity when it comes to his, frankly, insane stances on basically everything else.
00:50He gets that space precisely because he's been viewed as just that strong on the economic
00:55front.
00:56And now?
00:57Well, now you've got all the downside of the crazy without any of the upside of the
01:01economic stuff.
01:03This presidency is a full-blown lose-lose now for the American people, and it's not
01:07a coincidence that these new polling numbers are coming out right now.
01:10I honestly cannot remember a time when the line between a president's own actions and
01:15his impact on the economy has been so direct and so obvious.
01:19Every single American can see with their own eyes how Trump's tariffs have directly raised
01:23prices, directly tanked the stock market, and by extension, directly plummeted their
01:28own retirement savings.
01:30You've heard of fuck around, find out.
01:31This is the find out phase, and it is the American people who are suffering the consequences
01:36of Donald Trump's actions.
01:37Let's start by remembering, by the way, the context here.
01:40Trump promised his own voters over and over and over again that he would lower their prices.
01:45Starting on day one of the Trump administration, we will end inflation and we will make America
01:50great again.
01:51We will deliver regulation cuts, energy price cuts, interest rate cuts, and we will drive
01:57prices down, and we'll drive them down very fast.
02:00But starting on day one, I will quickly defeat inflation, and we're going to bring down the
02:05energy prices fast, fast, liquid gold, and we will make America affordable again.
02:13Prices are still going up.
02:14You know, they're going up again, and they surged again very viciously last month.
02:20So when I win, I will immediately bring prices down.
02:23Starting on day one, we will end Kamala's war on American energy, and we will drill,
02:29baby drill.
02:30We're going to drill.
02:31So that's what was said last year.
02:32And where have we gotten instead?
02:34Prices not only haven't gone down, they are going up.
02:37And it's not just that he's breaking his promise to act to lower prices.
02:40It's that instead, his own actions are what are directly causing prices and costs to rise.
02:44I mean, just look at the products that Trump has announced tariffs on, steel and aluminum,
02:49meaning they directly impact things like housing, cars, refrigerators, air conditioners, washing
02:54machines, dryers, iPhones, furniture, and on and on.
02:57Again, it couldn't be more obvious why everything is getting more expensive, nor could it have
03:01been more preventable.
03:03He's also promised universal across-the-board tariffs on Mexico, China, and Canada, three
03:07of the U.S.'s biggest trading partners.
03:09That's going to raise the cost of electronics, clothing, home goods, toys, sporting goods,
03:14industrial parts, pharmaceuticals, appliances, oil, timber, as well as everyday grocery products
03:19like avocados, tomatoes, berries, bananas, coffee, beef, chicken, corn, tequila, chocolate,
03:24rice.
03:25In other words, basically everything.
03:27Trump is raising your prices on virtually everything.
03:31And if you're one of the 62% of Americans, a vast majority, who have investments in the
03:35stock market, you're able to see firsthand how Trump's chaotic and stupid tariff strategy
03:40is impacting your own wallet on top of the rising prices.
03:44If you have a 401k, for example, and hope to have even a modicum of a retirement after
03:48working for your entire adult life, you are seeing how Trump's actions are now severely
03:52impacting what you've saved up.
03:54I mean, you can literally watch the stock market plunging in real time on Fox News as
03:59Trump continues to announce his new tariffs.
04:01So we're going April 2nd, but very importantly, tomorrow tariffs, 25% on Canada and 25% on
04:08Mexico and that'll start, so they're going to have to have a tariff.
04:12So what they have to do is build their car plants, frankly, and other things in the United
04:16States, in which case they have no tariffs.
04:19It's getting so bad and so unavoidably obvious that even CNBC, one of the financial networks
04:24that tends to be the most apologetic of Donald Trump, just saw one of their reporters go
04:28completely off script and say this.
04:30I'm going to say this at risk of my job, Kelly, but what President Trump is doing is insane.
04:35It is absolutely insane.
04:37It is about the eighth reason we've had for the tariffs.
04:40And now he's saying he's putting 50% tariffs on Canada unless they agree to become the
04:4551st state.
04:47That is insane.
04:48There is just no other way of describing it.
04:51And the trouble, Kelly, is that it shows there are no bounds around President Trump.
04:56This is very different from the first administration, where there were people around him who seemed
05:00to, I don't know what the word is, but smooth over some of the edges now.
05:05And the other thing that's not talked about, Kelly, is what's going on within the administration
05:09in terms of how they're treating the Constitution and laws.
05:12I think all of that is bad for the attraction of capital.
05:16And the gentleman from Bridgewater is 100% right.
05:18We need massive amounts of capital if we want to have, fund our deficits, pay for the things
05:23we want to pay for, sell our bonds, and have high stock prices.
05:27And it seems as if this administration is doing everything it can to chase foreign capital
05:31away.
05:32Well, and we could go into the strategy of the insanity as a strategy in terms of our
05:36trading partners.
05:37Insanity is not a strategy.
05:39I'm with you, Kelly, in trying to look for silver linings.
05:42I'm a sunny person.
05:43Not silver linings, tactics.
05:44Right?
05:45Some, some, well, some explanation for this other than insanity.
05:47I'm ready to accept it if you can come up with one.
05:50Exactly.
05:51Insanity is not a strategy.
05:52Also, just a quick aside, but can we just acknowledge how sad of a state we're in when
05:56an economics reporter feels like he is risking his own job just to report on the truth?
06:01A truth that a significant portion of the country is now waking up to?
06:05Let's take a look at this graph, by the way, to see how the S&P 500, which is a top stock
06:09market index, compares to other recent presidencies.
06:12That line at the top?
06:14That's Joe Biden's presidency.
06:15You know, the president where Trump spent practically every single day claiming that
06:18the stock market was terrible and on the verge of imminent collapse.
06:22Obama is in second place.
06:24Trump's first term is below that one.
06:26And that line way there at the bottom, the one that it's falling so fast, it looks like
06:29it's falling off the graph.
06:31Yeah, that's where we are right now in Trump's second term.
06:34Guess it's easier to lie on the campaign trail than it is to actually govern, huh?
06:39And while all of this is happening, Trump doesn't seem to care at all.
06:42He is telling Americans simply to not look at the stock market.
06:46Before you came into the Oval Office the first time, you were a very successful businessman,
06:50very successful real estate executive.
06:53And a lot of people said, oh, this is the business president.
06:56This is it.
06:57He's watching the stock market.
06:58He knows all about, you know, he doesn't want the market to go down.
07:01And now we've got tariffs and the market has been going down.
07:04Well, not much.
07:05I mean, in all fairness.
07:07You said, look, we're going to have a disruption, but we're OK with that.
07:11Is that what you meant?
07:12The stock market going down was the disruption?
07:14What other disruption were you alluding to?
07:15Look, what I have to do is build a strong country.
07:18You can't really watch the stock market.
07:21If you look at China, they have a hundred year perspective.
07:24Great strategy.
07:25Let's rely on the concept of object permanence.
07:27If we don't look at the market, then apparently the market ceases to exist.
07:31Got it.
07:32Instead of focusing on literally anything that would help people, especially in light
07:36of a sinking poll numbers, what did Trump opt to do?
07:38Well, you see, he straightened up and took seriously the implications of what his tariffs
07:42are doing to the broader economy and finally took steps to undo.
07:46Just kidding.
07:47He held an infomercial on the White House lawn for Elon Musk's car company while its
07:51stock price was in practical freefall.
07:53Here is Trump literally ignoring questions about the terrible stock market while trying
07:57to distract people with a publicity stunt for President Musk.
08:01What's your message to Americans right now, sir, who are worried about the stock market?
08:04What's your message to them as they watch it?
08:13The reality is that this is the most corrupt presidential administration in modern American
08:17history.
08:18It is run by a billionaire oligarch who spent hundreds of millions of dollars to elect Trump
08:23in order to gut the agencies that regulate his companies and put more money in his own
08:26pockets, which we're seeing play out right now.
08:29And while his company is tanking as people are now boycotting it, Trump is desperately
08:33trying to save face for him instead of doing a single thing to help Americans who actually
08:38voted for him.
08:39But the kicker is that Americans are beginning to finally see through what an absolute scam
08:43all of this is.

08:52The subscribe button will be right here on the screen.
08:55But second, the reality is that we're now in a political environment where this administration
08:59can lean on any of the social media platforms to suppress certain voices if they don't like
09:03critical coverage.
09:04That means my longevity here is in the hands of a few tech billionaires who are already
09:08making it clear that they're willing to cater to this White House.
09:11To that end, signing up for my newsletter is a great way for me to be able to reach
09:15you directly if that ever becomes necessary.
09:17I'll put the link on the screen as well, so please sign up.
09:20It's completely free, but there's also an option to do a paid subscription if you'd
