00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ennobled the subsistence or subsistence allowance of the soldiers.
00:06That's the national news of Kenneth Paciente of PTV Manila.
00:12As an acknowledgment of the military strength of the Philippines that promotes peace in the country,
00:17President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. approved the Executive Order No. 84
00:21that approves the increase of subsistence allowance of all the official and enlisted personnel of the AFP.
00:28It means that from the previous 150 pesos daily allowance of the soldiers for food and other expenses,
00:34it has increased to 350 pesos.
00:36That's equal to 133% increase.
00:40As a result, 10,500 soldiers will be accepted every month.
00:45The increase includes the trainees and probationary second lieutenants and NCOs
00:49who are currently under training,
00:51as well as citizen military training cadets and reservists.
00:55It is stated in the Executive Order that the subsistence allowance of the AFP should only be increased
01:00for their well-being and as an acknowledgment of their sacrifice and perseverance in defending
01:05and promoting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Philippines.
01:09According to the EO, the current value of the subsistence allowance for an active soldier is not enough.
01:15This allowance of the AFP will be adjusted in 2015.
01:18The fund will be extracted from the appropriations for the AFP under the 2025 General Appropriations Act
01:24and other relevant sources of the Department of Budget and Management.
01:28And to further strengthen the peace,
01:30the President put first the oath-taking of the Local Amnesty Board, Eastern Visayas,
01:34where he gave the support of the government in strengthening the peace process.
01:39You have been asking me to form this board for quite a while.
01:46And that's finally happened.
01:49And I know that you are waiting to work very well and very hard
01:54to make sure that this peace process that we have embarked upon will continue.
02:01And now we are no longer just talking about it at a very high level.
02:07We are now actually putting it on, making it work on the ground.
02:12The President also instructed that they should work together to advance different ideologies and beliefs
02:18to further strengthen the peace process.
02:20The Amnesty Board is also a big thing for the rebel groups to return to the government.
02:26The prospect now that we have the Amnesty Board here,
02:30then there is now a mechanism that is in place for us to bring back into the fold of the law,
02:37into society, those who have opposed the state for a while, for a good long while,
02:44to the point of adopting the principles of armed struggle.
