00:00All the men all over the world who are listening to me here today,
00:04never in your life raise your hand against a woman.
00:19Brutality, physical abuse, mental abuse, women have been going through all the years.
00:28That's the reason why I stood up and I am still standing up.
00:46Calypso music is exciting, energizing. The music itself is energizing.
00:58My father says Calypso belonged to the devil because they could not understand the rhythm of the music with the bass and the drums and the dancing.
01:12They couldn't understand it. So one day I told them I will not be the foolish virgin that buried the talent in the soil.
01:25My father did not know what he was seeing at that time. And then when I was successful, he says, oh, that's my daughter, you know.
01:35Someone has to stand up for the women and I am one who stood up. I will keep on standing up for women.
02:05Calypso music is exciting, energizing. The music itself is energizing.
02:18The reason why I work, leave me alone, because this is what happened today and it's been happening a long, long time.
02:27Calypso music is exciting, energizing. The music itself is energizing.
02:37And right now some woman is telling me now, Mama Rose, you know what my husband is telling me?
02:43Go up with your friends and have fun. So they are leaving them alone right now.
02:50Ladies, I am still standing up for you and I will stand up for you until the good Lord says come home.
02:58And I know the Lord ain't calling me home now. I am here for a purpose.
