00:00Meanwhile, the Office of Civil Defense called on local governments to prioritize retrofitting initiatives in their respective regions.

00:09In an interview with the Civil Defense Administrature, Ariel Nepomuceno,

00:14it is important to upgrade and strengthen our infrastructure from strong earthquakes and other calamities.

00:21Despite the official, like Myanmar, the Philippines is not safe from earthquakes.

00:26Nepomuceno urged LGUs to deploy engineers to conduct assessments

00:33and make sure that the company, Dock Cover and Hold,

00:36is part of the safety procedure whenever there is an earthquake.

00:43He also emphasized that the government agencies are well-prepared for such calamities.

00:51Most of our government agencies are well-prepared.

00:55There is an earthquake drill, fire drill, and we have prepared go-bags.

01:02And to the local governmental units, we demand that their building officers conduct inspections,

01:17if possible, and they should be strict in giving permits to construct buildings that are not that strong.

01:27Aside from the government, we, the Filipinos, the people, should also help in information dissemination,

01:39in preparation, if this happens.
