00:00A lawsuit against Sean Diddy Combs accusing the rapper of sexual assault has been dismissed
00:04after the anonymous plaintiff did not disclose her real identity.
00:08The original lawsuit was filed by a woman in October 2024 in the Southern District of
00:12New York under the name Jane Doe, who alleged that Diddy had assaulted her in 1995 at a
00:17party.
00:18However, the accuser was told she had to refile the case and disclose her real name by mid-March
00:21despite her lawyer's attempts to proceed anonymously, leading a federal judge to dismiss
00:25the case on March 31st.
00:28In the ruling obtained by People Magazine, U.S. District Judge Louis J. Libman said in
00:32part,
00:33On March 6, 2025, the court denied plaintiff's motion to proceed anonymously and ordered
00:37her to file a complaint in her own name by March 20, 2025, or the case would be dismissed.
00:42As of March 31st, plaintiff has not filed a complaint in her own name, nor has she sought
00:46an extension of time to do so.
00:48Accordingly, the case is dismissed.
00:50NBC News obtained a statement from the rapper's legal team.
00:53Today, a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit filed against Mr. Combs by Texas attorney
00:57Anthony Busby and his local counsel Antigone Curris on behalf of an anonymized plaintiff.
01:02This is now the second case brought by these attorneys against Mr. Combs that has been
01:05dismissed in its entirety.
01:07It will not be the last.
01:08For months, we have seen case after case filed by individuals hiding behind anonymity, pushed
01:12forward by attorneys more focused on media headlines than legal merit.
01:16The other claims, like the one dismissed today, also will not hold up in a court of law.
01:21Diddy still faces multiple lawsuits and has pleaded not guilty to charges against him.
